The Mumble Rumble and the Cocktail Rock
‘Handsome’ indeed this deluxe re-issue of the only Kilburn and the Highroads. The album comes with numerous extras including the highlight of a live show recorded by capitol radio. The mastering is not too bad, not overloud. This was group was Ian Dury playing his dues and while not quite hitting the highlights of new Boots and Panties does have much of the charm and whit of the writing of the said album.A nice re-issue and helps to complete the Ian Dury collection

Handsome indeed...
A great re-issue of a classic album. It would have been a stellar re-issue if Cherry Red Records had included the original RAK recordings, that came out on vinyl under the title "Wotabunch!", on a third disc.

SEMI CLASSIC 1975 OPUS GETS EXPANDED BIG TIME!!!!
this was a great record of note back in 1975 from kilburn and the high roads, this was there one and only record BUT they did have a host of 45s released and a 5 track 12 inch in the mid 70s as well, i must say before going further i have a bootleg from the uk by THE WHO from nov 5 1973 as THE WHO are my favorite band of all time and with all the photo books i have of THE WHO and there old gig posters from the 60s and 70s i never knew kilburn and the high roads opened for the who on that night in the uk, anyway basically if you where a fan of ian dury and the blockheads from 1977 onwards this MAY not be a record for you as you get a mix of pub rock and a tad of ska in here but over all this is a ROCK N ROLL ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the high roads where around along with other great british pub acts in the early through the late 70s like DUCKS DELUXE, TYLA GANG, EGGS OVER EASY, DR FEELGOOD, EDDIE AND THE HOT RODS, THE KURUSELL FLYERS AND ONE OF MY FAVORITES THE PIRATES FEATURING THE LATE MICK GREEN, they sure had some set of bands back then and all of these acts came and went well along with the 1977 punk explosion and a lot of punks respected these bands, ian dury was not a punk but some of his witty writing border lined punk, he was more of a punk poet, anyway the high roads will remind you of all of ians post high roads recordings but the high roads did not knock it on the head like the blockheads did in 1977, the high roads are still best known for there punky classic rough kids, these guys sure had a good 4 year run but split in 1976 as punk was moving in fast and they where not keeping up with a punk audience like say the hot rods or dr feelgood where, this fantastic expanded edition of this record is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its 2 cds loaded with probably almost everything the band recorded between 1973 and 1976 but i certainly cant confirm that, we had one member of this band that is so short he reminds me of little bob from the french pub rock band little bob story........................ the booklet is amazing and the 2 discs are remastered to sound the best i have ever heard this album, if you where a fan of the blockheads 35 to 40 years back then i would grab this for your collection as well ian dury was still plain old ian dury when he was in the high roads and any dury fan will love this or at least like it very much!!!!! thank you cherry red for another great release.....
