Spyderco Salt 2 Lightweight Knife with 3" H-1 Ultra-Corrosion Resistant Steel Blade and Black FRN Handle - PlainEdge - C88PBBK2

This knife is just like a typical wharncliffe Delica in feel, opening, and carrying. It’s very high-quality, lightweight, feels very solid and strong, has a very tight, solid lock, and is overall amazing. It’s easy to carry, easy to open, and easy to close one handed. The yellow handle is bright and a nice color especially if you drop it in grass or even water. The only differences between this knife and the wharncliffe Delica in VG-10 is that it isn’t full flat ground (it’s a hollow grind), so it’s a thicker, more robust blade. And the salt’s handle isn’t lined and gives it a lighter feel. I don’t know the weights though, but it’s reasonable to me for EDC. Some say a hollow ground blade is less strong at the cutting edge. I’ve never had an issue, but thought I’d mention it.I love the thicker blade because it seems more robust and more durable, but still crazy sharp and possesses a nice thin, precise tip for piercing or finer work.The steel doesn’t rust. Get it wet, carry it in the tropics, or against your body. Rust isn’t an issue. Although, I have some older H1 salt 1 models that have stained. Also, from what I’ve read, this steel is inherently tough meaning it can take impact, flex without breaking, and won’t chip easily. These are qualities I love in a blade. The serrations stay insanely sharp even with lots of use, but you don’t have to worry about chipping, breaking, or fracturing as much. The serrations go through cardboard, rope, plastic, zip ties, tape, fabric, leather, and I even cut an apple, although it is awkward on things like fruit and cuts it jagged. But, I love this knife. The apple juice on the blade didn’t worry me and it didn’t rust or stain the blade.I should mention that this steel work hardens. If you use it on hard or abrasive materials or when you sharpen it, it gets harder and stays sharp longer as a result. Now I’ve heard this isn’t exactly how it works, like just in normal cutting like cutting plastic ties won’t increase hardness, but sharpening it will. I’m no expert, but you hear a lot about the work hardening properties of H1, so I wanted to mention it. Read up on it if it matters to you.Buy this knife, it’s worth every penny. A tough, sharp, worry-free everyday pocket chainsaw companion that doesn’t bust your wallet.

I'll update and write more after a bunch of use but I just wanted to say :THE KNIFE I RECEIVED 12-23-23 HAS THE NEW H-2 BLADE STEELThis is the first example of H2 that I have seen though there has been discussion of it on the Spyderco Forums for at least a year.It is not a big improvement over H1 (if any) but the word was H1 was no longer going to be available from the company Spyderco sourced it from and so a very similar alloy was found (? from another vendor ?), they are calling it H2 and it has at least as good of properties as H1. For the whole story search the Spyderco Forums for discussions, specifically look for the ones Sal Glesser posts in . He is the owner of Spyderco (along with his Wife who is a very active and important part of the company).Aaaannnnyway there you go.PS: This is a VERY high quality knife. I like it a lot and there were zero problems with it; good and sharp . . . the works. By the way this has one of the best pocket clips on the planet (IMO). It is Titanium and super effective. It is not too tight , it grips very well, it can spread more than steel ciips without being bent open (great elastic deformation / low plastic deformation).I LOVE these clips ! ! !

This particular purchase was for a family member who races sailboats and they need a quick fast sharp blade for possible emergencies. It has been used outside of emergencies and we found it to stay sharp and be outstanding cut. Safety features built in and bright color to easily spot.

Nice knife. Bought for SCUBA diving. After a week of salt water diving I can whole heartedly recommend this knife. Clips securely to the BCD, no sign of rust. Excellent buy

I thought I was looking at two different-sized Pacific Salt Knives. It turns out this is an entirely different knife, and I love it. A perfect EDC that I can swim/scuba with. It’s a secondary knife on my dives, but a primary knife for while doing everything else.Yes I prefer the larger blade of the Pacific Salt for the imaginary shark fight I’ll never have, but the Salt is just so small and light, it’s something I’ll actually end up carrying everyday, everywhere...and it’s still very capable.I asked about the frameless body, and Spyderco assured me near carbonless blade is going to break far sooner than the handle.To make it rustproof there is nearly no carbon in the mettle, which means a softer mettle.What does this mean in the real world? This blade’s tip is probably going to bend if you stab a 4x4 with all your strength 50 times in a row.Not sure why anyone would need to do that with a pocket knife.**In the pictures are the Assualt in yellow, Pacific Salt 2 is the larger black knife, and the Salt 2 is the smaller black knife. I have fairly medium sized hands.

I bought this for a fishing/outdoors knife. It has become my EDC work knife. Super sharp, cuts through everything like butter, holds an edge & won't rust! Living in FL, between rain, humidity & sweat, all my knives get at least some surface rust. That includes my other Spydercos & Benchmades. My Para 3 was my EDC work knife but this Salt II carries much better in the pocket. My weekend carry is a plain edge Benchmade 940 Osborne. I might buy a plain edge Salt II to take the 940s place. Plus I love the all black. Not an attention getter & it holds up well. Spyderco treats the blade with DLC like a Glock slide. It's not a finish like most other knifes.
