Very informative. I love the timeline style of learning history

It’s easy to get lost in this book because it’s so interesting and has so many facts! The pages are beautifully laid out and the graphics are gorgeous. There were a few pages that I did find were written with a slightly slanted perspective, but overall, I have enjoyed reading it with my 7 year old.

This book was recommended for a humanities class I am taking in college. The title says the book is a children's timeline, don't let that keep you from buying it. Once I am done with the book, I'll gift it to one of my grandchildren.

I got this for my nephew. He loves reading and he loves to read a lot! He read this over and over and he still has it. I’m pretty sure he keeps all of his books!

I bought this book and History Year by Year after spending three months doing home schooling with three grandkids. These books make it easy to see the pieces of history we are studying in a larger construct and reinforce what the classroom materials are teaching. Plus the kids love sitting on the couch and reading together. Both books are well layed out, well constructed, beautifully illustrated, and provide a rich diversity of topics to talk about. I looked at the negative reviews but found them to be largely lacking in detail and not worthy of comment here.

It is suitable for ages 8 years old and up. The illustrations are beautiful ! It is a well made and heavy book.I had the book for only a month and i noticed the outside of the spine of the book rip this makes me very sad. i hope the binding will stay intact. This book is fragile.

Lovely design. We really love a lot of the DK books. They are always really well done. Great pictures and clean looking. These timeliness are so fun to look at and discuss. For my homeschool kids, we have a good time looking at them at different times. They aren't all super detailed or inclusive but all give a good overview. They are made easy to follow.

My son is interested in history, and he loves this book. It has timelines of various countries and periods, such as Chinese dynasties (along the Great Wall) or main events of the French Revolution (next to the guillotine), as well as history of sciences and arts (I especially like the paintings organized as a museum, with stairs connecting the rows of the timeline). Good illustrations, although I miss the titles and references ("Great portrait! But who is in it, and who painted it?"). Neither too much nor too little information. Perfect for creating an overall sense of what happened when, in various areas. Five stars.

What a fantastic book this is. I have a very inquisitive 7yr old granddaughter who is older than her years. She is constantly asking questions about all sorts of things so I wanted to get her books that would last her a few years that will also help her with her school projects and beyond. This book is very informative has lots and lots of colour glossy pictures. The quality of the book construction and pages is second to none, it is thick and heavy so the quality is excellent. This book would make a fantastic gifts for anyone with questions about history or for children who just want to learn. I would definitely recommend this book its great value and great quality.

Captivating to children

The only blatantly incorrect information in the book is the timeline of Judaism. It was established after the 6th century b.c.e, NOT in 2000 b.c.e. Ancient Israelite religion starts to differentiate from Caananite religion around the 12th century b.c.e. but it was a politheistic religion.
