SD STUDIO DESIGNS Modern Premier Metal Tray for Art/Craft Table, 36 Inch, Black

Wonderfully constructed,,, gotta love anything made of steel and made with pression like these art trays are. These trays are prefect for my hobby/art work, they hold a ton of different items that a person would use for any hobby/craft/art work you have to do.

Excellent product, super heavy duty construction. It fit on my 27 year old desk with some "assistance" from a rubber mallet but it is ON there now. My desk was a smidge too thick, by mayber a millimeter or so, but I was able to get it to give just enough to slide on. The instructions say to use a phillips head screwdriver for the retaining pressure screws, but it actually calls for (and I used) a hex wrench. It's just about half an inch shy of a true 36" length, but it still looks great!The cups on either end of it angle and move freely, the foam inserts are pretty nice, I keep a collection of colored pencils in one, have yet to fill up the other.

This unit DOES NOT work with the glass top Design Vision craft/drafting desk. The open is too large, the tightening screws do not extend far enough in to create a secure closure, the tightening screw locations are blocked by the craft desk support frame members, and the unit is extremely heavy creating a breaking risk for a glass top. This item comes up as a suggested add-on and while the idea concept is good, the manufacturing design execution is poor. I ended up installing this on a wooden desk top however BUT a Dremel cut-off wheel was necessary to trim off 1/2" of the unit's plate at the U connection so it would slide on and fit to the table top.

I love this tray and I bought it at the same time as I bought the Studio Designs Vintage Inspired drafting table. It's very sturdy and I absolutely love that the cup stays level no matter what angle your table is at. It's made of metal but it's not shiny so it doesn't detract from the vintage look of my table. The only issue I have is that the description says it fits most Studio Designs drafting tables (that are 3/4"-5/8" thick). The description of the drafting table doesn't give a measurement for its thickness so I chose to be optimistic and bought the tray anyway. Turns out the drafting table is 7/8" thick. I didn't want to give up either one so with a planer and some elbow grease from my husband, we made it fit. Now it's on there securely and it looks great. Overall I'm very happy with the tray and I can't wait to start my next art project with it.

I received this a month ago but was not able to try it on my futura desk as we were in the process of moving and our house wasn’t finished. It did not fit my new futura desk and I just found out it only has a 30 return policy which ended Saturday. It looks like a quality product but was not able to use it. Just be aware of a 30 day policy. Now I’m stuck with it with no way to use it. I really wanted to be able to.

I bought this to use along with the glass topped SD Futura drafting table. The description stated that it fitted most tables of a certain width. Until I got it, there was no way to know whether it would fit or not. But even though I liked this product a lot, it did not fit the table I bought from the same manufacturer. The table was just a fraction thicker, with the glass on, than what the tray was meant for. I was really disappointed as it would have organized a lot of things into the tray.

Incredibly simple to put on my drafting table. They sent two copies of the directions, which made me laugh because they were so easy, but it was nice because that doesn't usually happen. They also sent 6 screws or bolts. It required three. I was impressed with that, too. It didn't come with a hex wrench, but I have so many of those since they come with everything else in the world. I had to put the tray on the right side (if I'm in the drivers seat), based upon where I need the table in my studio. This makes the "cup" pretty far away from me, but I don't exactly have a need for that to be close to me, yet. I can always change it. It's the simplest thing, and easiest piece of "furniture" to put together or add on that I've ever had. It does not wobble, aside from that cool "cup", which comes out as well. The holes for pens or brushes or whatever your current vice is, is a piece of foam with holes cut throughout. I will add a better photo when I get everything put in its proper place. I checked measurements on my drafting table and bought within the brand, so I knew this tray would fit. The measurements listed were a little different, but it was actually a perfect fit. Beautiful.

This product is very nice and the quality is superb, installation was easy as well if the board is 5/8”.The description says it will fit 5/8” - 3/4” board thickness. The outside dimension of the channel that attaches to the board is 3/4, but; due to the gage steel used in the tray, this only left a 5/8” gap to slide over the board.I ended up cutting an extra 1/8” from the bottom of my board with a router, which made for a good fitment, just make sure you have 5/8” board before ordering, otherwise; you’re in for some carpentry work.
