Sweet Smoked Paprika Powder 70g. La Chinata

Been using it for years. It gives you that smoking paprika flavor to your food. I use it to season almost everything. I definitely recommend to try.

I bought this smoked paprika powder many times, and will buy it again. It is good for soups and sauces. The lid on the metal box is a bit inconvenient; it certainly keeps it closed, but I keep a screwdriver in the kitchen to lever it up when I have to open it.

I'm Hungarian and paprika is a national pastime in Hungary. While this isn't a Hungarian paprika, it is an excellent addition to any spice cabinet. The taste is bold, rich, and smokey (obviously), but with very little bitterness compared to most other paprikas. The smokiness overpowers the sweet, so it's not as sweet as an unsmoked sweet paprika. This isn't a spicy paprika. It has excellent dark red color and great aroma. It blends well into liquids. It can be used alone as a more subtle seasoning, or if you want to really up the effect, mix it with just a little liquid smoke and/or toasted sesame oil to enhance the smokiness and add more complexity of flavor. The canister is a bit difficult to open. You'll need to use a knife to pry it off, and if goes back on tightly so you will have to do that every time, not just on the first opening. I'd be happy to see a packaging redesign for an easier to open canister. The canister itself is attractive enough to display with other containers on an open shelf--it doesn't look like a typical cheap mass market spice jar.

Upon opening the can, the color is the first thing I noticed. It is a deep, dark, rich red. The texture of the grind is good and not too fine. The smokey scent is not overbearing, but assertive, yet much more refined and pleasant than some other smoked paprikas I have used. The flavor of the raw ingredient is on the bitter side, more so that some other Paprikas that I have used, particularly other "sweet" paprika. Since it has only just arrived, I have not used it in my cooking, but shall soon so at this point I reserve any disappointment. I am interesting what flavors will develop in the cooking.

It transforms an ordinary fish, egg, chicken, and veggie dish into something extraordinary. You can sprinkle it on anything. Our guests asked about it, and I had to show it to them. I love it!

Best paprika I’ve used so far

I originally bought in Spain at a grocery store. Now I have no reason to go back to Spain. Lol. Such great taste and has an earth, smoky smell and taste. I make my own fajita mix using this paprika.

I first decided to buy this product because I often noticed the familiar La Chinata packaging being used in various cooking shows. I absolutely LOVE smoked paprika, and so decided that I'd buy a good quality one for a change. It's considerably more expensive, but I do think that this is worth it. Perfect to liven up chilli con-carne, or to mix with some oil and rub into sliced pork/beef fillet for a beautiful Stroganoff. The tin packaging is nice, keeping the spice fresher for longer than it would in a see-through jar. I think it's delicious. Definitely superior quality to your usual brands.

Fantastic quality paprika - I refuse to buy any other! It lasts a while (even if you use it very liberally like myself), is delicious and I have found the quality to be consistent no matter when I buy it. Would happily recommend to anybody :)
