Solid Rack. No need to spend more for the pricey brands.
Don't review most amazon purchases and always wait until I've used the product enough to give a fair review. This is one item that I felt deserved a review as people can spend a considerable amount of money on a bike rack. First of all the rack came well packaged and assembly was easy. My first test run with the rack was in the city with one bike loaded. Most people consider hwy driving to be more demanding on a bike rack, but I feel that city driving places more stresses on the rack due to constant turning, pot holes, etc. Only used the available straps on the rack and the bike was stable the entire drive. Have since driven on the hwy. approx 700kms and the rack was good. I did notice some slight movement in the rack, but I think all racks would do this. Also used a couple of extra straps to secure the bike. I read one review where the entire rack came out of the hitch on the hwy so as a precaution I cut down a ratchet strap and was able to loop it through the bottom post of the rack and onto the hitch loops. This was not necessary, but just provided peace of mind that if the pin failed or rack became loose there was no way for it to completely fall out. The locking knob is a nice feature, but I've only used the rack about 10 times, so I can't comment on it's longevity. So far so good. Would recommend this rack 100%.

An easy way to get three bikes around
While I can't compare this rack to others in use as it is the first I've owned, I can say it works very well. It holds up to three bikes and does so very well; I've had up to about 100 lbs on it total at once. The straps, while simple, work well to hold your bikes. The plastic bumpers work well to prevent your bike frames from rubbing. The lock, with a wedge-style system, works well to secure the rack within your hitch tube tightly. The rack also has a pin that indexes your hitch tube to help hold the rack in so it's not just using the wedge design. The unit comes with two keys. The quick-pin mechanisms work very well to lower both the whole unit so you can open your trunk and to fold the rack's arms down. There is an included adapter that bolts onto the portion that goes into the hitch to allow it to be used on 2" hitches.A few things I wish the rack had:- Long straps to hold the bike wheels straight and secure the bottom portions to the rack- Some kind of padding on the main rack tube to prevent the bike closest to the car from rubbing it's frame on the metal as well as help space it away from the car some to prevent it's pedal from rubbing your bumper- I wish there was a hole somewhere on the main rack tube to run a long cable-type lock through it. This would allow you to lock your bikes (see Python bike locks) to the rack while going into stores etc. You could probably get a lock long enough to run it to your car's safety chain rings but it would need to be longer than necessary for this. I may eventually weld a ring on myself at some point to make up for this. All said this is an excellent rack and most if it's short comings listed above can be overcome with simple DIY solutions. I'd buy it again, this product seems to hit the sweet spot between quality and features available for the cost.

Well thought out product.
Really pleased with this bike rack. Wasn't sure what all was included or how it all worked in detail, but was surprised to know that this product had some real thought put into it.It has a locking mechanism built into where it mounts in the hitch receiver which 1) locks the carrier to the hitch and 2) expands within the hitch making for a tight secure fit.Thinking about the fact that this carrier saved me from buying a locking hitch pin for ~$20, the $100 I paid made it a steal compared to any other carrier at the time. The only critiques would just be that the straps used to secure the bikes aren't the easiest/quickest on the market, and the tilting motion (of the vertical post to access the hatch) does not go down far enough for my 1st generation CRV's hatch/tailgate to open as it swings sideways. The top glass portion does clear however. Any hatch that swings up like a conventional van or SUV should be fine though. On the plus side, it prevents bikes from tilting too far down and either hitting something or being too heavy to lift back up.Overall, good build quality, hefty, the cotter/hitch pins used to fold the carrier are linked together and connected to the carrier with wire (impossible to lose any of the pins).

Great rack
This is an easy to install and reasonably lightweight rack. The bars one which the bikes hang are not adjustable and my wife’s mountain bike was hard to mount due to the frame shape. That is not a criticism of the rack as it would be fine for most bikes i think but be aware if you have a narrow triangle frame on your bike

Adequate
An easy to assemble rack, but it does feel flimsy and insecure. You will need additional straps to stabilise bikes(i have 2) and perhaps an adaptor for unusual shaped frames such as mine. So far so good, but i would be reluctant to use it for long trips.
