Solid, useful ski rack
Simple installation, works great on the factory roof rack on our Sienna van. Used it to run to Winter Park, Eldora, and Steamboat with no issues. Fits 4 sets of skis (2 adults, 2 kids) with a bit of room to spare, so unless you are using wide skis, I would expect it to fit 3-4 adult sized ski sets. The lock feature would stop an honest thief, but I would not leave these out overnight anywhere to tempt a rogue. It's great to free up space inside the vehicle and keep the snow and ice from melting in the car after a day of skiing.

Overall good and sturdy, but I wish they locked to crossbars.
Good rack. Mounts super easy and doesn't take much time at all. The mounts do NOT lock to the crossbars, which is was hoping it did. However there are Allen type screws with specific heads that are less common (less likely the potential theif will have the tool on hand) that secure the handle that releases the mounts. Also they cannot be used without modification if you plan on attaching with T channel crossbar bolts. The way the arms raise to allow the skis/boards in hits the crossbar if secured with T channel bolts. Overall a good sturdy product though.

Nice basic unit
It's big and holds 6 skis, has a nice attachment that doesn't require tools. I did't like my Thule because it required a special wrench to take it on and off but this one has knobs. Fits my aero Toyota Sienna crossbars ok. Definitely causes some wind noise on the highway but that's what you get with a big unit.

I use these as fishing rod holders.
Marketed as ski racks but I us then for my surf fishing rods. Holds then securely and the locks prevent them from being stolen when left on the truck overnight. It's a shame that's become a concern in the past 4 or 5 years.

Really great but very tall
Easy to put on. Work very well. Only got a 4 because they are so tall/high above the cross bars. A part of me wishes I had spent the extra $65 for the low profile.

Defective product-missing parts
Received product with all contents inside box already opened. Clearly a returned product that was re-shipped. Missing multiple parts; unable to use or install.

Expensive but (mostly) worth it
After reading tons of reviews of lower cost ski racks, I went with Yakima. I am not certain if the others failed due to "operator error", but I didn't want to take the chance, so I splurged. The mounting went smoothly, the locks work smoothly and there was little/no noise with the racks on, with, or without, the skis in them. I just went for a several hundred mile (each way) trip with them (most of it freeway (so up to 85 mph)) and they worked great.

Worth the money?
This is kind of an expensive pain in the a$$, that’s the same as cheaper products. The old Yakima designs were adjustable, convenient, and secure. The new one is not. In lieu of a locked rack having a design that inherently prevents theft, the new system uses a semi-uncommon Allen wrench to attach to the car, in addition to the key. So now I have to not lose a special Allen wrench, keep it with the rack, and hope nobody else has one wherever one staying. Would I leave my stuff in this rack overnight at a hotel? Probably not; your security isn’t tied to the uniqueness of your specific key, it’s based of the luck that nobody else brought their fancy Allen wrench that comes with every Yakima product or is sold at Stores. The Allen wrench is also required every time to want to raise of lower the extension arm. You have to loosen all the connections, adjust the height, then retighten everything. The old system could be loosened and flipped or dropped quickly without tools.
