4.5 stars - Fun, interactive book for mystery fans
In this mystery, you are the newest detective in Midsomer and have a suspicious death to investigate. At the end of each short chapter, you are asked what your next step will be and you will be referred to a specific chapter of the book based on your decision. Since I had the ebook, I could just click on the number and be brought to that section. Depending on your choices, you will get different clues and a different outcome. You may solve the case, fail in finding the killer, or be killed yourself! Once you've hit the end of the path you've taken, you will be directed to a Performance Review on your performance as a detective on your first case. The mystery is fun and fitting of an English cozy - a regional flower competition between neighboring villages is the center of the book. I had fun reading the clues and trying to solve the crime. Based on my choices, I survived - but I didn't catch the killer. After I completed it once, I had fun going through it a few more times to see how the results changed. It's a book you can go back to and see if your detecting skills get any better by trying again with different choices. This is a fun book for any mystery fan, but if you're also a fan of the Midsomer TV series, you will especially love it.

Lots of fun!
Bought as a gift for someone who's a bigger fan of the show than I am, but I couldn't resist finding out if I could survive - I could, and I almost solved the case! (Almost. At least I show promise as a detective?)From the few episodes I've seen, I would say that the book does a great job of capturing the spirit of the show. I love the cover design too!The only thing that knocked it down a little for me was that it's a hardcover... every other Choose Your Own Adventure book I've seen has been paperback, and to me that makes much more sense so it's easier to flick back and forth without damaging the spine. Didn't seem like a big enough issue to remove a star though, so 5 it is!

Captures the spirit of the TV show
I just loved the book. I read it again and again until I was satisfied with the outcome. The interesting thing is, if you imagine it as an episode you’re watching then there are really several very different movies you get to experience. Characters who make just a minor appearance in one storyline may be quite important in another. There is danger or success hidden in unexpected places. As for the characters populating the villages: they are every bit what you‘d expect of Midsomer. The author clearly knew what he was writing about. This isn’t some random crime set somewhere in England, it really feels like it belongs in the series.Immensely enjoyable, even if you don‘t catch the murderer on the first go. I liked that there isn‘t just one solution but many different stages of success. There are a few brilliant outcomes for your detective but a lot of middle-class investigations as well as a lot of gruesome failures in store for you. I recommend you read the thing several times even if you get a brilliant outcome on the first try.
