I bought this to replace my old hand axe of similar design. This new axe was a fine replacement and I am happy to be chopping once again.

I honestly did not expect much from this axe for 14$. When it arrived it looked/felt a little cheesy with the "Real Steel" all over the head and handle but the head was fitted pretty well to the handle. The grain orientation was good on my example and the handle had a smooth finish to it. I am not sure if the handle has a wax coating on it because it did not feel like a varnish but it definitely was not bare wood. I do not like that the head has epoxy on it and I can not tell if there is an actual wedge under all the epoxy but I can tell you that after moderate use the head is still on tight. The edge arrived dull but without too much file work I was able to get it sharp and usable. Overall I am impressed with this axe for the money. Don't expect it to be ready out of the package.

This was heavier than the one I replaces bit seems to be well built.

The cost/performance ratio on this tool is outstanding. It is well worth picking one up.
