A bit too big and chunky for my taste.
Its good, would be lovely as far as the quality and components, and value for your money. It's on the cheap price end, compared to something like Bonsai Jack's Gritty mix. But it's too big. Too chunky or coarse for my taste. Many of us have smaller cacti and succulents collections, too, and I need it to be a bit smaller. I can use itoutside or with some really large plants, to mix in with my own cactus mix.Good quality but wrong scale. Also too much bark in it.

This soil is very good for planting turtle back bamboo or orchids. I will buy it again.Reasonably priced, clean and easy to use

Good chunky stuff
I bought several bags of this stuff to use for Bonsai. It is big chunky stuff that drains great. The only negative I can say is the bark could have been larger. It does seem to require more frequent watering because of this, but it drains so well that wont effect the plant. I have found mixing in some peat helps significantly to prolong time between waterings. Overall trees I have planted with it are doing peachy.

The product is as described!
I don't know much about medium for bonsai but it came in a rugged plastic bag. There was no smell. There was some dust. It easily poured. I bought it as a beginner bonsai enthusiasts but I have had no problems with my plants in this soil. It seems to be working fine for me. I was a little skeptical about putting a baby plant right into just this medium so I mixed potting soil with it. I am having fun with a bonsai kit. That had everything to start with seed, containers etcetera. It was advertised as suitable for succulent plants but I have not used it for that as of yet.

Poor soil for bonsai
This is by far the worst bonsai soil I've ever bought.I regularly buy soil from several companies to use as a mix to get what I need for my trees, and this was the first, (and LAST) time I'll buy this soil. The pine bark is huge. (See pictures) This is NOT fine bark particals, it's basically chips, like mulch. Useless in an all purpose bonsai soil. I'm basically going to have to find a way to remove the bark and either try to chip it down more or replace it with a fine bark material.Very little substrate. Not enough to be effective for good root structure.Dont waste your money on this, for the same price there are much better and more useful soils available.

All bark.
Mostly pine bark fines. Not an even blend. If that’s what you want, fine. But that’s not what I was looking for. Sorry I bought 20 qts - I’m blending it with some Aoki for junipers.
