Simple to Use
I use this to check the temperature within my pizza oven, as it can read higher temperatures than some other models.Very easy to use and read - the display is nice and clear. It works at a good distance, so no risk of burning myself. It switches off after a few seconds, so the batteries will last quite a while.

It works well
Using the Fluke 62 as my benchmark for comparison, at £125, this must get five stars as it is reasonably accurate, reasonably well built, and 1/6 of the price. It’s a bargain.

Used with pizza oven
Like that can set it for the correct material you are pointing it at. Easy to use. Temps seem pretty okay when you are up close. I’m using it to check the stone temperature in a pizza oven and it seems perfect for that- exact temperature is not critical - just need to show that it’s very hot!I’m happy with its function

Is it as accurate as a Fluke-62 MAX?
So, is this ERICKHILL Digital Infrared Thermometer accurate? I borrowed one of my company's FLUKE-62 MAX thermometers for comparison. The answer is yes. The ERICKHILL was never more than 0.5 degrees Celsius or 0.8 degrees Fahrenheit away from the Fluke-62 reading. The build quality of the ERICKHILL is as good as you could want for domestic use, and the device itself is a very smart looking meter with non of the silly garish colours you see from other manufacturers. The display is clear, bright and very easy to read. The laser is very bright and you can easily use the thermometer in bright light. Like the Fluke, the ERICKHILL has multiple emissivity settings, I changed both while testing the thermometer. Certainly for my needs, the ERICKHILL has every feature I want. It has an air temperature mode, for checking my air conditioner, and a low/high mode with audible alarm. This feature was actually why I purchased the thermometer. The manufacturer of my carpet cleaning machine is very! specific about the temperature range of the water you can add to the clean water tank for greatest cleaning efficiency. With the ERICKHILL set up I can confidently fill the machine water tank, knowing for certain that the water in the tank is neither too hot nor too cold. It takes all the guesswork out of the equation. The meter returns a reading very quickly and will hold the reading for several seconds, backlight on. The meter also has continuous reading while the trigger is pulled, which is very handy for checking your central heating radiators from bottom to top, for identifying radiators that require air bleeding. The final plus for the ERICKHILL is the carry case. It is a good quality, semi-rigid case, that protects the meter, whilst also acting as a trigger guard, to prevent the meter from being accidentally activated in a toolbox. I cannot think of a single weak point of the ERICKHILL. It has all the most useful features, variable emissivity, good build quality and a good protective case. Just as long as you do not think of it as a replacement for a 'proper' industrial infrared thermometer like the Fluke-62. The Fluke meter I used for comparison is in a different league of build quality to the ERICKHILL. The Fluke is designed for long service life in harsh environments and is sealed against moisture and dust. It can also be dropped from heights that would cripple the ERICKHILL. But for domestic use, the ERICKHILL is, in my opinion, perfect.

Seems to be accurate
Nice and simple to use, Reads the same as the other temperature gauges in the vivarium so gives you extra peace of mind

Great
Bought this for my son who is curious about temperatures, he loves it. It will measure the temperature of everything, although it struggles to measure accurately a kettle or a shiny object. It s very accurate and you can turn the red laser light off if you don't want it on

Cheaper option for pizza oven temp measurement
Easy to use and much cheaper than the one sold by the big pizza oven manufacturer. Checking out against the non-digital thermometer I also use it is great for getting multiple readings across harder to reach areas quickly. I wouldn't want to drop it, build quality is at a scale of 'getting what you pay for. But it works well.

Works well
Initially I didn’t think it was working correctly. It was, I was not used to using one of these. It does what it needs to and gets used a lot.
