We needed a new doorbell as our old one suddenly just stopped working and nothing we could do would bring it back to life!I looked around before buying this one and found there seems to be loads of different brands and models available some are really cheap whilst others are much more expensive but from reading various reviews the price or brand doesn't seem to be any real indication as to how good or reliable a bell is. In the end I opted for this one and I'm glad I did as we've had it for a few months now and it works just fine.We plugged one of the plugins in the hallway and have had no problems with that one at all. With the other one we plugged it into the conservatory which is the furthest room away from the front door and initially it worked but then just stopped working.and wouldn't work there again so we moved it into the dining room where it works fine. There are a choice of ringtones so before Christmas we had jingle bells ringing out every time someone rang the bell but now we've changed it to one of the other melodies which is very simple to. Some of the tunes are a bit tinny when they play but as there are plenty to choose from that's not really been a problem for is. If you have the plugins quite close together then I would recommend you set them so they both play the same tune otherwise it might be quite irritating to have two different tunes playing at the same time. When I write a review I always ask myself whether I'd buy the product again and whether I'd recommend it to others. My answer to both of these questions is yes as they are good value but only as long as I didn't want to use the plugins too far away from the front door.

Easy to fit, works well and good value for money
The pack arrived this morning and I had it fitted in about 15 minutes, including removing my old door bell. The chime tones it has are, to my mind, just as good as those of more expensive sets that use electronic tones. I really like that both chime units are plug in, it will save having to keep replacing batteries as I've had to with my previous doorbell, I can also take the second chime unit out into the the shed, or the back garden on an extension lead, when I'm busy out there. The bell push can be fixed with either a double sided sticky pad which is provided or there are a couple of spots in the base where you can push through with a screwdriver or similar if you want to fix it up with screws. Screws are not provided in the pack. I'm trying the sticky pad first to see how well it endures. The sticky pad also has holes stamped through it to match up with the bell push base so if at a later date I decide I want to fix it with screws I can just drill straight through without having to remove the sticky pad first. My initial impression is that this set is excellent value for money and I've very happy with it.One thing to note with the bell push - when you open it up to insert the battery (provided) there is a very thin silicone or rubber ring that fits in the groove round the edge. This may become displaced when the unit is opened and it is quite fiddly to get back into its place so don't rush it, I imagine this is what makes the unit waterproof. There are no instructions given on how to try the different chimes but with trial and error I found that there is a small button on the side of each chime unit with a little treble clef printed by it. When the unit is plugged in, if you press this button once it will play the currently set chime. To move on to another one press it twice, and carry on until you find the one you like best. Obviously, at the end of the options it returns to the first one again. The unit will stay on the selected chime until the power is turned off, then it will revert to the first tone in its list.

Cheap and does the job
After having my house rewired, I had bought a single, portable door chime and bell. A replacement had to be bought after a couple of years for the chime (push button) and then the bell actually went and I was missing deliveries. Finally, got fed up and bought these. Nothing fancy but wanted two, one for downstairs and one for upstairs. With double sockets everywhere, it just went into one downstairs and into another one into a multi extension that is always one with things like my PVR and cordless phone charger so it is never off.Quite easy to set the chimes, they are not fancy. And after 3+ years, no real problems with either of them, except one keeps switching to another chime downstairs for some reason, so I left it after a while. I just need something that works. I have a little alcove for my front door so the bell push is not exposed to any rain, so this is fine. And it’s still functioning on the same battery.Happy with this product, hopefully the first and only thing that should go wrong with it is the battery in the bell push eventually runs down some time in the future. Some people don’t seem to press this button properly though, so if you are expecting an important delivery, leave a note on the door as well is my suggestion.Tip: test your bells if they are not used often, I just did this prior to posting this. The one downstairs was not working. Removing and placing back into the socket fixed this and I pressed the chime button as well.Think I spent around £12 - £15 on this in May 2013 (on sale £9.19 at September 2016)
