It should be called " change your diet, change your life!:
Excellent, excellent book that needs to be read by every human on the planet. So educational, informative, well written and easy to comprehend the facts. We are being lied to about fats and sugars and this book clears it all up.

A must-read for leaders in public policy, health care, education, criminal justice, and agriculture
"Avoiding experimentation allows you to continue believing in your theory without having to re-evaluate it," writes Georgia Ede.In a meticulously cited, easy-to-digest (pun intended) narrative, Ede walks us through steps we can all take to experience better mental health. Her critical analysis of numerous studies -- exciting and important ones as well as overhyped ones that prove nothing -- captivated me. It was humbling to realize I'd been duped by powerful institutions masquerading junk science as sound science. This is not your typical self help book. It doesn't just rehash everything we've already heard countless times about the paleo, keto, and carnivore ways. A small sample of the compelling information you'll learn includes:-exactly why I have such an addictive reaction to certain foods (it's not my emotions after all).-why our brains don't need us to consume sugar-that in vitro studies don't tell us how a substance behaves in a live human body-how to greatly decrease our chances of getting Alzheimer's and cancer-why fiber is optional, and for some people even harmful-why alcohol doesn't do our bodies any favors-how sugars and starches can inflame our gut-the recipe for a homemade electrolyte solutionEde guides the reader through identifying a personalized eating plan. As a former carb-loading athlete then vegan, I'm eating meat, eggs, organs, seafood, cheese (not recommended in the book, but I swear there are a few types of cheese that don't seem to bother me), herbs, and a small amount of botanical fruits. It's simple, nourishing, and delicious. My acne and binges are gone, and my digestion is leaps and bounds better. My body doesn't seem to want more than 6 hours of sleep per night. No caffeine needed. If you've read this far, you deserve some of the LOL moments:". . . one was a rat-human study (a study of rats and humans, not of hybrid rat-human creatures).""The result of these scrambled messages about eggs . . ."". . . no self-respecting plant wants you to eat the rest of its body.""Like a tree falling in a remote forest, the . . . take-down of the antioxidant theory made no sound."" . . . the quantity of red wine you would need to drink to achieve even the lowest dosages of resveratrol used in clinical trials is 500 bottles per day."As opposed to those who give patients false hope by exaggerating the effectiveness of their diet or supplement or miracle drug or medical procedure, Ede admits that the right diet is not a cure-all for everyone. That is honesty.I bought the Kindle version, but I bet the audiobook is equally enjoyable. I can't recommend this book enough.

Keto unexpectedly resolved my anxiety and depression
Four years ago I started following a ketogenic diet to lose weight. Two weeks in, the constant rumination I had been suffering from for years just vanished completely within a few days, which I didn’t connect to the diet at first as I was also doing therapy for depression and anxiety. A few months later I stopped adhering to the diet as strictly for a few days and dropped out of ketosis and my symptoms returned, then disappeared a day later again once I got into ketosis again. And it was only then that I realised that the keto diet was putting my anxiety and depression into remission, and after a bit of googling I quickly discovered I was far from alone in this experience, and that this had been known for quite some time. I wish I would have found out about this earlier as that could have prevented years of needless suffering. This is the book I wish I had at that time, I think it can help a lot of people. In this book Georgia Ede provides a lot of practical tips to avoid the pitfalls and to find a version of the diet that works well for you (as a stricter version may work better for some people), as well as the science behind it.Though she advises to get the assistance of a medical professional, after reading her book, you will already know so much more than most medical professionals, and than I knew when I started doing a ketogenic diet on my own, so don’t let that stop you. I understand it would be wise to get assistance, if you can find an experienced practitioner, but for many the alternative means more years of misery and suicidal ideation, so the alternative may not be without risk or cost either. After I had followed the keto diet strictly for well over two years, my symptoms no longer return when I’m not in ketosis. That duration seems to differ per person and while initially it may seem impossible to stick to such a strict diet for years, experiencing the negative effects again when I didn’t adhere to it strictly, gave me plenty of motivation to stick to it, and I certainly didn’t possess extraordinary willpower. My food cravings vanished after a few weeks, which I couldn’t have imagined what that’s like when I started, so don’t judge until you’ve tried it for at least a few weeks, it might change your mind.

Clear and consistent
Dr. Georgia Ede does an excellent job explaining the body from the inside out, scientifically helping the reader to understand what the brain needs, then identifying what foods supply those needs. An enjoyable read for anyone interested in science and nutrition. I will be recommending this book to everyone who will listen.

Valuable resource filled with knowledge and guidance
A valuable book on its subject and written with knowledge, depth and breadth. It's also written with care and warmth, making it an enjoyable read, and gives many ideas and options for those who want to try using their diet to improve their mental health. I originally got the book out of professional interest, but decided to give the keto diet in it a try out of curiosity. As someone who already eats less grains than the standard Westerner, I was surprised to find I am gaining benefits from the diet and am continuing with it to see how this pans out longer term .My only quibble with the book is a fuller index at the back would have been useful. A lot of ground is covered in the book and it can be hard to refer back to a particular passage when you want to reread it.The book will be useful to anyone who wants to discover whether or not their diet affects their mental health.
