Item works well in a closed containers, not for open space.

These are a must for keeping containers dry! *Infinitely reusable!!! Use the defrost setting in microwave and run until the beads in the pouches change from pink to blue again. * Pouches are heavy duty plastic intended for reuse. * A clear window shows the bead color (blue is dry, pink is moist) so you can swap the moist pouch out if needed to keep things dry. * Great for clear storage totes or even food storage since they are non toxic silica (just don't eat or submerge in your food!). Use for clothing, documents, nails / hardware, and anything that could mold, rust, discolor or wrinkle if sealed up with moisture. * Easy to check the color of the beads through a jar or plastic container without opening it. Vibrant bead colors! * Must be used in a closed container for best moisture absorbtion or you're fighting an uphill battle with the air that a dehumidifier machine is best for. ;-) * Silica beads hold the moisture and will not leach back into the container. * Even if the pouches rip I tape them shut and use again. *I've had the same batch of these for years literally and keep microwaving them each time they turn pink. * Hot tip - defrost the pouches for for 5-6 min then shake each one and flip them over before defrosting for 5 more min. Times and settings vary greatly so start with 3 min or if defrost by weight / meat type etc, try fish setting for 1 lb to start for example. Start low and see how the color changes to get used to it. ***Always defrost ONLY* *Hot tip 2 - arrange pouches in a single ring around the edge of a plate to effectively recharge without overheating or uneven results. Let them cool and then store in air tight container once they are deep blue again. I LoVe my "Dry Guys" haha. My wife and I call them that.

I have purchased these several times. I put them in my glass jars of pantry staples, containers of dehydrated foods, etc. I haven't tried to renew them...not sure it is practical as I would not have very many at a time in need of renewal.

These have worked great and are quality made. Easy to use and a must for long term food storage. They have been just what we needed on our Homestead.
