Flavorless and without that warm, delicious aroma one associates with cumin
I use cumin a lot. If a recipe calls for a teaspoon of it, I'll ratchet it up to a tablespoon, especially with my hummus recipes. And because of that, I was excited when I received a pound of this product. But my excitement quickly went to disappointment and then to serious concern. When opening the container the absolute absence of aroma was striking. The warm and rich smell of cumin was completely missing. One would think that a pound of cumin seed would have at least a hint of cumin. Nada! Nothing! Zip! So I I took a teaspoon of it and put it in my spice mill, hopefully eliciting something, anything, from the seeds. After about 15 seconds of whizzing, it worked! Sort of. The faint aroma coming from my spice mill was similar to that of a very diluted paint thinner. Ummmmm.... Definitely not the result I was hoping for.I looked more closely at the container and learned this product was "manufactured" in India! Okay, I wasn't hoping for that either.India, similar to China, has very few laws-- if any at all -- regulating her food production. For instance, it is true that this product may very well be 'organic' as its label states. But that merely guarantees (ahem!) that no chemicals were used during the production of the food product. In other words, human excrement could be used as fertilizer since it clearly would be organic and therefore 'legal' to use.Why this container has the smell of paint thinner I'll never know. Perhaps the containers in which the cumin seeds are placed shared space with a solvent manufacturer. At any rate, It's going into the trash. This is a company that I will not purchase from again.I've made it a habit of NEVER buying food products from India or China. Sadly, the origin of this cumin was not stated in the product info on Amazon.

Mislabled Product
I ordered two bags of CUMIN SEED and when I received the order one bag said Cumin Seed and the other Fennel Seed. When I went to use the CUMIN seed this weekend, a lable said cumin seed on the package but recipes on the bag said Fennel seed. Once opened in was Fennel seed - the package was mismarked and now I have 2 big bags of Fennel seed and no CUMIN seed. I purchased this in April so can no longer return them This was the first time I attempted to use this product.

Damaged packaging
The packaging for the "sealed" cumin seeds was pierced and was moreover smeared on the back with a yellow coloring, possibly from other spices. I am not at all confident of the integrity of the product I received. Buyer beware. Please see attached pics.

Don't Buy
Update: I will be throwing half of the remaining packet as there are countless small stone pieces mixed with cumin seeds.afyerhourz of cleaning still not able to separate them. Totsl Waste! It's my first time buying cumin seeds online. Packaging is good and has good aroma of cumin but it's very dirty, I had to clean it good old way, contains lots of chaff( photo for reference) and half if it was useless, even contained mud and small debris. It can't be used just out of packet like other brands I have used earlier. Takes lots of efforts and time to clean it, If you are fine with that go for it.

Value and flavor combined
I use cumin powder in many recipes: turkey meatballs, steak stir fry, tofu tacos, beans and rice and as a result spend too many weekends fussing with the jar of ground cumin at the coop where the cost is hefty, the convenience poor and the flavor acceptable. This bulk bag of cumin seeds lets me enjoy the fresh flavor of ground cumin without the inconvenience of the bulk foods aisle and encourages me to toast the seeds prior to grinding. The seeds do require a spice grinder and that adds an element of time and work to enjoying the spice (unless your recipe calls for the whole seed) but it allows for the spice to last in storage for a longer period of time and yields a better flavor. For me this product was a great buy and I think it would be for those with multiple children or those who make most of their meals at home.

Just not right
I had high hopes for this cumin. I use a lot when I make any Mexican dish. While cumin has a very distinct smell normally, this smells off. It reminds me of elm beetles. I thought maybe it was from not being ground, or maybe it would be better cooked. It's not. It's pretty terrible. I don't know if it's a different variety or what, but it just wasn't at all what I've ever experienced as far as cumin goes.

FRESH! Smells delicious
I can’t stop smelling it, so fresh! I was at first disappointed in the packaging because on the picture it sounded like it’s packaged in a bottle but then I decided I do like the packaging instead of a plastic bottle, it closes well with the Ziploc, and it’s a nice strong flat bag.
