The Hikari Algae Wafers for fish is an extraordinary selection of food. The wafers contain high levels of vegetable matter such as seaweed, alfalfa, soybean, spirulina, garlic, and chlorella. In addition to the vegetables, it is also reinforced with an ample amount of vitamins. One of the vitamins that can be found in the wafers is vitamin C; which aids in the reduction of stress and builds immunity to counter disease, illness, and containment. Hikari claims the algae disk is made just for plecos; however, the wafer is ideal for any bottom feeder or even fish.Some important things to note are; the Algae Wafers will not cloud water or is dissolvable by water. The size of the Algae wafers is dime-sized. Do not freeze these wafters, instead, simply place the wafers in an airtight container or put them inside a ziplock bag to keep them fresh. If they become stale, the fish will no longer eat the product and it also compromises the ingredients and vitamins.In conclusion, I highly recommend purchasing these wafers since they contain a punch of vitamins and minerals while being nutritious at the same time. I have been using Hikari Algae wafers for over 10-years and no other brand comes close in my opinion. If you have multiple fishes in your aquarium then I would recommend breaking up the wafer into multiple pieces and dropping them at different locations throughout the tank so the fish won't fight over them. Just be cautious that since these wafers contain Algae they tend to aid in the growth of algae on the aquarium glass. However, please don't let this deter you from buying these wafers.

I doubt I'd be as successful as I have been breeding plecos without these. They love them. So do my crayfish, grass shrimp & mollies.

This was a wonderful purchase. Buying these in bulk saves so much in money in the long run. The quality of the Hikari is the same as the smaller retail packages. It is packaged as pictured. And, what I have received is always good on expiration dating.If you know you will always buy fish food and will always buy the Hikari Algae Wafers, then buy it in bulk and save a lot of money. My fish love this stuff. It comes vacuum sealed in the commercial bulk packaging as pictured and labeled the same. Commercial volume is the way to go. No need to keep paying for small packages.I definitely recommend this product. 2.2 pounds comes to 34 ounces. Algae wafers are so expensive to buy. They stay together, and they do not cloud the water. My plecos and my catfish love this stuff. My african cichlids also devour these in the tank.I am very happy with my purchase. Bought this for my mom's pleco and goldfish. We learned the hard way that we should be breaking these wafers up. If they sit too long, it will slightly and temporarily, add a green tint to the water. However, this is because we didn't break these up into small pieces that the fish could easily consume immediately. Once we did that, the water problem was resolved and the fish enjoy these immensely. It is a nice addition to the flakes we feed them regularly.

I have used hikari algae wafers for alot of years. The price had steadily increased over the years which made me look at some less expensive options. Unfortunately finding wafers that all the fish in my 40 tanks love isn't easy. When they don't like the cheaper wafers it just makes a mess in the tank. I seem to always find my way back to hikari, and the 2.2# gives a little better bang for the buck. I go through one of those bags pretty much every month. Guess I will just have to suck it up and pay for the good stuff-- Hikari
