Does what it should.
Works as it should, from a reputable brand, and holds a lot without being too expensive. Its about as fast as any other hdd I've had. Works well for photo/video storage and large games that dont need it all loaded at once. I wouldnt put an OS on it in this day and age, but thats just my opinion. Not sure what else to say.

Excellent Solution for Backup
I have researched and tried to find a storage solution for my company's large number of movie projects in .mp4 and .mov with editing files, and concluded that the best solution is to get HDs (especially when they go on sale to save a few $$) along with an inexpensive HD adapter like the Sabrent and backup all our projects on those HDs. At around 100-120.00 each we can store anywhere between 20-30 projects on an 8TB HD. Even making backup of backup the cost is far better than any online solution (at least for the time being) that store these project at the same HD or SHD resolution.

SEAGATE Drives are the best, BAR NONE!
Ok...not only am I running an 8-drive array (34-TB) full of Seagates, but have to say that without a doubt, there are NO DRIVES that compare to them in durability!I've seen the stats, heard the hype, but then again, I've also moved PETABYTES across them for years, and have only had ONE drive failure in all that time! The problem with 'testing and reporting' is that no one reports 'success rates', and the drives that last for years if not decades never make the news...I won't buy another brand...and Seagate can bank on that from a VERY dedicated customer!

DOA. waste of time.
The disk I received was DOA. It started ok but then crashed with errors. Hey, no problem, right? It happens. Well, not when it started to happen after you checked the integrity, wrote the 1st GB, and had decided that the disk was OK. I went to BestBuy, bought 4GB WD (too small for my needs but is ok for testing), installed in the same slot using the same SATA and power cables. No issues with the WD hdd. Wasted electrons and ONE DAY of my time on troubleshooting. This is not acceptable. SG drives are cheaper than WD but is it worth it? You decide. I wonder if they even do QC/QA at SG or just ship to US customers. I am getting a replacement but I am not holding my breath and will be looking for an WD drive as a backup (backup for a backup does sound silly).

It does the job. Not much noise, good price for the size.

Lots of storage for a good price
If you want super speed, this is not the drive for you, but being 5400 RPM, you should know that. I was copying data over from a 7200 RPM Toshiba and the drops in speed was noticeable. However, I want this for mass storage of video, pictures, etc. so I don't need amazing speeds. Now the issue I did have was probably a Windows 10 issue because I all diagnostics showed the drive to be 100% ok. When I first installed the drive and tried copying files to it (through Windows Explorer and SynchBak), it would be super fast at the start and then plummet. Like to KB/ s. It was horrible. I tried a million things online to try and fix it and none worked. Finally some people said reinstall Windows. Now it is much easier to do a Reset with Windows 10 but since I had never done a clean install since I upgraded from 7 way back when, I opted for a totally clean install on my SSD. Once I did that, the drive worked perfect. Again, not sure why it struggled so much with just this new drive as I have replaced data drives in the past with no issues. But clearly something was jacked. Given what I read online, I don't blame Seagate for this issue but I almost sent the drive back since it was driving me crazy and if the disk diagnostic from Seagate didn't say it was fine, I probably would have. Glad I didn't even it was the nuclear option to get it working.

Runs quietly, and no bad sectors after heavy use
So, I use this drive as one of three backup drives for my photography work. After months of moving large RAW files around, it's shown no sign of wear. It arrived in perfect condition, and every sector was good. Now, it's still silently purring away, with no bad sectors. It's been a solid drive, which is exactly what I needed. It may not be the fastest thing ever, but it definitely gets the job done.
