Loved this story. .. but .. I've noticed some weird commotion around my neighborhood after finishing this masterful series. Someone in my community's Facebook group was going on about how someone had opened "a tear jn the sky" and that lightening wouldn't stop coming down at night for three days jn a row. Of course, we called the police to investigate, but they couldn't figure it out. Is this related to the book?

I bought this a a gift and the recipient was delighted to receive the whole set rather than the first in the series. Good value and well packaged.

It begins so well, a window into the life of an initially interesting character in a fictional-but-very-realistic world, with so many links to real world history. But as the story progresses, it's clear it becomes an episodic by the numbers telling of some pre-planned "I have to make references to all those horrible events in history" route which forces characters to become either OP or totally helpless depending on contrived circumstances. They become shallower. After a certain point it looks like the story will never end, and when it does it's also very non-sensical. I understand some might say that's the point, but if so, don't be mistaken expecting some thrilling adventure, it's not, it's a repetitive, downward spiralling drag.
