I ordered one of these at the beginning of the season to replace a failing oem starter that was 8 years old. The bolt holes lined up exactly as they should so fit was perfect. The housing is solid and compared to the weight of the oem starter this was about the same. Hopefully this means that it has about the same amount of copper winding as the oem started did. This starter has had no issues throughout the 2025 season running 1-2 times per week with multiple starts and stops. I wasn't concerned about value so much as fit and function. Powerful enough to easily start the 23hp kohler engine durable enough to last a while. Pretty solid value for the money. If i need to replace another kohler starter i wouldn't hesitate to order again.

Works great, and bolted right up to my Toro with a Kohler 7000 Series 22hp.
