This is a nice Mobo, but I didn't want an AM4 model. This was by accident - however, if you really want something micro this is a must have. It does come w/ built in WIFI that is useful if you don't have any ethernet close by. Have I used this? Now, I’m pulling 400 Mbps wirelessly with low latency—perfect for Apex Legends and streaming on Twitch without lag spikes.Smooth Performance Across the BoardThis thing handles my Ryzen 7 5800X like a champ. Whether I’m rendering a Blender project or running Baldur’s Gate 3 at 1440p, it’s stable and fast. The PCIe 4.0 support for my Gen 4 NVMe SSD (a WD Black SN850) shaved seconds off load times—booting Windows feels almost instant.Compact but Well-DesignedI used a Micro-ATX case (Fractal Design Meshify C Mini), and the B550M Mortar WiFi fit like a glove. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I wish it had a couple more.Audio Quality is Just OkayThe Realtek ALC1200 codec isn’t bad, but it’s not great either. Using my Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones, I picked up some faint static at high volumes. For casual gaming and music, it’s fine, but I ended up getting a cheap USB DAC to clean things up.M.2 Heatsink Feels UnderwhelmingThe primary M.2 slot has much heatsink, which kept my SSD at around 55°C during heavy use. But it’s pretty basic, and the second M.2 slot has nothing. I added a third-party heatsink for my second drive (a Crucial P5 Plus), which added cost and hassle.Wi-Fi Antenna Could Be SturdierThe included Wi-Fi antenna works great, but it feels flimsy. The cons, like the USB shortage and meh audio, are manageable with workarounds, but they’re worth considering if you’ve got specific needs. For a 2025 build on a budget, it’s a great pick, especially if wireless connectivity is a priority.

This motherboard is absolutely amazing. The features you're getting for the price in an M-ATX form factor motherboard is just unmatched. MSI is consistently one of the best PC part makers, and they hit the mark with this one too despite it being a little older. Overall, 10/10.

Went to turn on my plex server pc one morning, cpu debug led was lit, took all components off the motherboard and tested them in another pc and they worked flawlessly. Tried bios flashback, flimsy button busted after the 4th time, used the correct fat32 mbr with bios named to MSI.ROM and all i get are 3 flashes and then it stops, put cpu back into motherboard and it turns on with no power getting to the cpu, doesn't even get warm after leaving it for over an hour. Tried another cpu, ram and power supply to no avail, they want me to wait 2 weeks plus to get it either fixed or replaced, this is now the second MSI motherboard within 8 months to take a dump on me. Just a matter of time before my B550 Gaming plus decides to quit working.

I purchased this motherboard to use in a home NAS build with a Ryzen 5 5600G. It worked with my CPU out of the box with no BIOS update needed! It has plenty of SATA headers to connect lots of hard drives, supports a huge amount of RAM and fits perfectly in my case. The server has been running 24/7 for about three months now with no issues. Building the server was easy and this motherboard is laid out nicely. You can look only for where to plug in all the different headers for the power button, reset switch and other connectors like that (pro tip: use Perplexity dot ai for help with building if its your first build. That's an incredibly helpful AI tool!).
