RYC Automotive Air Conditioning Compressor and A/C Clutch AEG388

Works great. Exactly what I needed to fix the wife's car. Installation was difficult but does not detract from the quality of the item.

I bought this and paid to have it put in. It worked for about 2 maybe 2 1/2 months and I had to take my car back to the mechanic. He told me the alternator wasn’t working again. So I had to buy a 2nd one. I bought that 2nd one from auto zone. It hasn’t stopped working yet and that was almost a year ago. Please do not waste your money buying this you will have to replace it not even 3 months later.

Installed this omy 2014 jeep patriot. Its a easy swap out part. Took me 2 or 3 hours (most of which is removing skid plate, front bumper, and wheel well covers, jeep dosent make anything easy). But the part where im removing old compressor and putting this in was very simple. And AC blows cold again. I also got the warranty. Less than 250 for the part, and now if it goes out in the next 4 years i get it fixed for free.

This was bought for a 2012 Jeep Compass. No issues with the compressor so far. Works as designed, a/c pressures tested in vehicle, both high and low sides within factory spec. Compressor was obviously refurbished; if the lower price wasn't enough of a hint (it's around half the going price of new compressors), the compressor is also spray painted a dull silver color, whereas new compressors are brushed aluminum. 3/5 Isn't for the compressor rebuild or spray quality, honestly the spray was nicer than most refurbished parts, with minimal overspray. It's the fact that at the time I purchased this, the description said the compressor came prefilled with the correct amount of pag oil. I purposefully turned the compressor clutch to force out any oil and turned the compressor upside down and let it sit for a day. No oil came out of either discharge or suction ports, and the inside of the compressor did not look like it had any film of oil. You should have to inject more oil when replacing an a/c part anyway, as you'll lose some when extracting refrigerant from the system, but I had to add more due to the compressor being empty. Some people may take the description to heart, install a dry compressor and have a premature failure in the near future. That's what the 3/5 is for.

After the mechanic did a complete AC install, the compressor stopped working immediately after the Amazon return date. I'm now out the cost of the compressor and labor...forced to buy another compressor and pay labor again! 😡
