Amtech S2255 Telescopic Magnetic Pick up Tool - 2kg (5lb) Lift Capacity

I didn't buy this item for its intended purpose. I wanted to make a stand to mount model aircraft for wargames, for larger (1/72 scale) aircraft models. This item proved to be perfect for the job. The cap unscrews easily so that the clip can be removed. The cap itself has the projecting screw element, and can mounted on the base (though its rounded bottom makes this harder than it might be), so that the arm can be screwed into it. Or you can mount the arm directly onto the stand. The magnet at the other end is powerful enough and it is also has a reasonable diameter (about 1cm). All you need to do is to attach some form of steel fixing, like a washer, to the model.

A very handy gadget that does the job. I dropped a ring in between the seats, this gadget made it easy to retrieve it. Would recommend. Good price.

Nice tool, feels well-constructed. However, the claimed 2kg lift capacity is an exaggeration. I've tested it with various items and I reckon 500g is a more realistic lift capacity. That's still a lot, though!

I can't believe how useful this little tool is. Managed to retrieve a bunch of car keys from a small space within seconds. So useful for many things how did I manage without it!
