Works very well, once it is burning the wood gets lots of air and it incinerates everything. No significant smoke, very pleasant to sit by and stare at flames.

The quality of this firepit is very good for the price point. No firepit is completly smokeless, but with a hot enough fire, this one is very close. The ash tray has experienced some warping. I had small fires for the first few burns to try to temper the ash tray. The warping has not increased after several hot fires, and the tray is still easily removed.

I ordered the smokeless 20” pit and the heat shield. We had our first burn in it and once the fire is going it really is smokeless. Needless to say it was a hit. The heat deflector is a must have and pushes the heat out very well. It’s very therapeutic to watch the smoke burn off. It’s also cost a fraction as the name brand pits but does the same thing. Only con is the wood you put in it will need to be cut into smaller chunk size piece. For full length wood(18”) id look into a bigger unit. But I had some pine I cut down into 12” chunks and it burned very clean. Also very light weight, portable and easy to remove the ashes.

Cheap and cheerful. Built like a brick. Great bang for your buck. Only negative thing was it was missing a screw to connect the feet. I just so happened to have a screw laying around the house so no big deal!!!

So far it's perfect. No discoloration. No issues !

Got the 20" fire put. Here are the issues: 1. There is NO HGD logo as in pictures 2. Cam with a carry bad that is half the size of this firepit - totally useless 3. Included brochure shows a grill as well, which is not in the box. 4. Stand is made of two stackable rods that you need to put together and is has a hole to put a screw to hold it together. There is no screw in the box Thinking of checking with the customer service if they can resolve the issues, else this is going back.

We are seasonal campers and wanted to get a smokeless fire pit. Didn't want to spend $400, so we "settled" for HGD 28 inch. Great choice and works just as well as the pricier brand. Yes, a neighbor at camp has one so I could compare. This is a great product and we are look forward to many seasons ahead for campfires!
