These socks are elasticized around the middle of the foot and ankle. The back of the ankle is nicely padded. Many parts of the inside is like soft terrycloth, except where it's elasticized.When I slipped a sock on my hand I felt the gentle hug of the elastic. On my foot it did not feel constricting like my expensive elasticized socks which I find uncomfortable. They fit my foot as expected.I think these socks are only suitable to wear with sneakers. They are rather thick, so make sure your sneakers can accommodate that thickness!My set consists of 5 pair of PASTEL colored socks. I was especially looking forward to receiving BRIGHT turquoise and purple so I'm disappointed they are not bright as shown in the advertisement, therefore 4 stars. Now to wash and see how they turn out. :-)

Every time I find athletic socks that I'm sure they are the best ones I ever had...someone makes new ones. These socks are so comfortable and cushiony. Love the bright pastel colors. They have plenty of stretch to them. The inside of the sole has a soft terrycloth like material from the back of my heel to my toes. These aren't thin as they have substance but not to the point of being too much. I have some athletic socks similar to these, but these definitely bring more to the table. I have been wearing these a lot since I got them. They are very supportive and fit great. When I hiked on one of our hottest days, my feet didn't sweat at all which is a big plus for me. I have washed and dried these multiple times since I got them, and they come out of the dryer without any shrinkage or fading colors. Great socks that I would definitely buy again and again.
