Q: Can this weld aluminum?

There is no reason why it shouldn't be able to if the type of aluminum is weldable. E4043 SMAW electrodes are what you're looking for. I wouldn't try on aluminum less than 3/16" thick. Aluminum electrodes are extremely sensitive to picking up atmospheric moisture though so keep them stored in a very low humidity environment. The slag from aluminum rods does not come off easily and generally require a skilled welder to produce sound welds.

you need a less a 4000 that is what i have and i welds good no problem.

Q: Is this strong good enough for vehicle exhaust work?

This welder will efficiently weld 5/16 plate steel. Automotive exhaust pipe is very thin. If you are a good welder and use the right rod & low amperage you can do it without burning through the thin material.

Q: I was welding in my backyard on 100 with a 7018 3/32 and half way through the stick the breaker would flip. This happened twice. Is 100 too high?

hi, if you use rod 7018 3/32 inch, usually welding current 75-90A is enough, we suggest you adopt breaker 30A, at least 20A, thank you for your question.
