It smells like puke or rotten fruit. Gave me an upset stomach. I then ordered another brand of bromelain and did not have either issue. Bad batch maybe? But the smell is so bad that you open the bag and the room stinks. The manufaturer had to know this smells before putting it in the bag! My hand smelled for a long time even after washing the powder off. This was my first bag of bromelain, and i should have trusted my nose and not taken it. But i had no clue what it was supposed to smell like.

Seeking to reduce my non-essential chemical exposure, I threw out the grocery store ‘meat tenderizer’ product from my spice cabinet and started using this. It’s the only actual meat tenderizing ingredient in the brand name stuff, and that product is loaded with salt and unnecessary chemicals that don’t contribute to tenderizing the meat, and do who knows what to my body?!A scant dusting is all that’s required, then sprinkle your dry-rub herbs and spices. Let it set on the counter a half hour or in the fridge up to overnight, with 20 -30 minutes to come to room temp before grilling, roasting, whatever. If you have a vacu-seal food preservation appliance, that will draw the tenderizer and the herbs and spices deeper into the meat.

This powder comes in a bag that locks up again. It has a scoop. The powder is very sweet smelling and tasting. It is too sweet for my tastes to just drink in water. However, it is fine mixed in a smoothie or smoothie bowl with other ingredients that helped to mask the sweetness and help offset it for me. That worked the best for my tastebuds. It does seem like a quality product with potential. I can't say for sure it is helpful for me or not though.

Bromelain is supposed to help with digesting proteins. I haven’t taken it in years. So, I decided to give this powder form a try. I took chewables before and didn't care for them.-This is a high-strength dose at 1,000 mg/serving.-Comes with a scoop-Mix it with water and take it on an empty stomach once a day. That is 1-2 hours before or after a meal.-Get 100 servings.This powder does have a smell! It smells a bit like pineapple, and I don’t know what. It doesn’t taste as bad as it smells. I mix it as quickly as I can and drink it down. It does take time for the gelatin powder to dissolve, so stir it a lot to avoid pieces left in the bottom. The package has a small opening, making it difficult to get to the powder, so I transferred it to a small mason jar.I have taken it for about a week without adverse effects. I do feel like it helps with my digestion. Time will tell if it helps in other ways.

Other bromelain powders DO NOT have this horrific odor! Wish I had read other reviewers and not made this purchase. Cancelled my subscription and contacting the company. Don't know if Amazon will refund.

Pros: It's bromelain powder. Exactly what it says on the tin.Cons: It smells like barf. I cant imagine any way you could use this without dealing with the awful smell or taste of it.
