Worth more as scrap metal, than as a tool.
They do not hold more than the shear weight of a carpenter pencil. So imagine putting a piece of hardie plank on these up in the air if you are on a ladder. Dangerous! The only positive part of this tool is that it showed its true colors immediately.

Questionable
Supposed to be compatible with cement board siding. After fully adjusting to smallest setting they never stayed in place on their own ( had use two layers of zip tape to get it to grip siding).

DIY Siding Buddy
These things are great, especially when you're someone like me who avoids at all costs, asking others for help. With these siding tools, I can pre-position one side, rest the siding upon the tool, then just walk down the other end of the board, securing along the way, all with no help from anyone else. Wish I had these years ago when renovating my last home. Glad I have them now however, now that I'm putting Hardie siding on my new home. I can't recommend them enough.

Too many design deficiencies
The ability of this siding tool to accommodate multiple siding thicknesses — from 5/16” up to 5/8”, owing to its adjustable cam lever clamping design — differentiates it from the most common siding installation tools, and seems to be a good idea. However, with this particular tool that’s where the good ideas stop IMHO.First and foremost, the smooth aluminum surfaces of the body and tongue of the clamp area offer NO grip when the tool is clamped onto the siding, and the tool therefore slips much too easily, even if the clamp is adjusted very tight. Why isn’t there SOME kind of rubbery traction strip on the body of the tool to gently grip the face of the siding? And speaking of very tight, the narrow cam lever is surprisingly uncomfortable to open and close; it’s just like fussing with the cam lever on your bicycle seat adjustment over and over, but with work gloves on. Not effective or efficient. The tool allows for reveal settings between 5” (not 4”) and 8”. Oddly, the adjustment holes are spaced in a manner that does not give the typical quarter-inch increments within that 5-8” range… the change from one setting to the next varies from as little as 3/16” to as much as 5/8”, so it may or may not adjust to deliver the particular reveal that you want. I was really surprised when I measured the actual reveal at each setting and found that degree of inconsistency. The tip of the tongue is blunt (not tapered as one would expect — see photo), making it more difficult than it should be to slide up behind the siding that you just fastened the run before. Again, not effective or efficient.Durability-wise, the solid aluminum clamp seems sturdy enough to last a lifetime. But in light of the other shortcomings, that’s not much of a plus. With some design improvements this could be a functional tool.

Wrong item if your doing 1/4 inch cement board
It’s strong and hold good but it’s made for 1/2 in siding it does nt work for 1/4 in cement board or hardy plank siding
