If you're left without power or batteries...
Imagine a horrific incident where you are by yourself and electric power and batteries are not available and you have to get to the bottom of things. This little am-fm radio works on batteries and also has a crank that allows you to power up for half an hour. I'm convinced that this is an inexpensive, neat device that may become quite handy.

Perfect for Everyday Use and an Emergency Radio
This is an excellent everyday use radio that can also be used as an emergency radio.I've been using this little radio daily for a couple of weeks now and I have it with me everywhere I go. This little radio is very compact and feels very solid in your hand. I especially like the rounded corners and it's Tic Tac shape. The antenna, tuning and volume wheel controls are positioned in such a way that you can operate this radio while holding it vertically, like a cell phone. I also find that having the tuning wheel on the side is at the perfect height and very comfortable to use when resting my hand next to the radio on a flat table top or desk surface. This is a great feature to have if you spend hours tuning around in the shortwave band, (no carpel tunnel syndrome). On my radio, I added four little rubber feet to the bottom to give it more stability when using it on an uneven rough surface, like a rock or a tree stump. I also use my Voyager V2 with mono headphones and a shortwave reel antenna for tuning the SW Band, (these are must have accessories for shortwave listening).

FM and Weather channels works great!
I like the fact that it uses NiMH batteries instead of lithium. Safer chemistry by using NiMH. Both the FM and Weather channels work fine. What is less than desired is the AM reception is not that good and Short Wave is almost non-existent, at least for me. I'm going to make my own antenna booster in hope I can get a better reception.

One of the Best Emergency Radios you can buy for under $20.
The Voyager V2 by Kaito, has to be one of the best values for an emergency radio you can find anywhere. Its my new $20 jewel! I love this radio. I produced a detailed video review which is on youtube. Just search the product and my user name.Features I like best about this radio:* Build Quality is fantastic.* FM-AM reception is equal to some of the best performing portables I own.* The NOAA Weather Band reception on this radio exceeds all of my other radios. Very impressive.* Flashlight.* Easy to use Dynamo crank.* Solar power.* Optional AAA batteries can be used..this is a very important feature all emegency radios should include.* Audio quality rivals some of my portables and can be used as an everyday radio...its that good.* Headphone jack is awesome, low noise floor when quiet and great bass on FM.* Replaceable rechargeable battery pack.Features that could be added or improved:* A second SW band would have been welcome..3.2MHz-6.95Mhz.* More color choices; though I think with time we will see them become available.* Longer antenna, or include a clip on wire to extend the Shortwave capability. The performance is everything you would want in a small form factor emergency receiver. I'm really enjoying this radio, and may use it on a normal basis vs waiting for an emergency.

Two Out Of Three Is Bad
I purchased one of these emergency radios and it worked fine. No issues at all. So I purchased 2 more as gifts and neither worked properly. I checked them before wrapping them and am I glad I did. Neither of the two would charge from sunlight. The LED indicated that the battery was charging and I left them in sunlight for 2 days. The next morning neither worked. They worked when I used 3 triple A batteries but the rechargeable battery worked in neither one. Sending back for a refund.

Instamatic-Sized Shortwave & NOAA Weather Emergency Radio, Solar, Hand-Cranked, Li or AAA Batteries
I like the power options for this radio. You can use the solar panel, a hand crank, or Li or AAA batteries. It does not have an electrical cord. The radio has shortwave and NOAA Weather capability; it also accepts broadcast from FM and AM stations. Reception is loud and clear. There are an earphone jack, a USB port, and a mini-USB port on one end. The telescoping antenna fits neatly into the top back edge. I can easily hold this radio in my hand. It is about the size of the old Instamatic cameras. The color is a nicer green than the acid green my computer screen showed.

Smaller than I expected
It’s tiny, and that may be my fault because I should have read dimensions closer. I realize that no one needs a large radio to bug out, but to keep at home and listen for weather and a little music, it’s ok. It doesn’t seem too sturdy. It does have good reception for fm radio so far. I will report back as I use it for a better update.

Excellent Budget Emergency Noaa radio
I got this from Amazon, great little radio, so easy to use, easy to put batteries in compartment, I bought another midland radio and it was so hard to connect the internal battery, id have to have microscopic fingers to plug it in, gave it away, put it out in the hall of my apartment with a for free sign. this little green Kaito radio is the best ive bought so far. I love the siren on it, its pretty loud and the flashlight is good. just the right size for my backpack too if I want or need to carry it, perfect size and works Great.
