Rubie's Costume Characters Caveman Beard And Set Wig

I bought this Caveman wig for a production I was in at the regional off-broadway theatre near me. The budget was tight due to budget cuts - the theatre is privately owned, but we usually receive a grant from the town, which we did not receive this past year ...so we had to supply some of our own costumes. Anyway, the play was a period piece set 90,000 years ago when neanderthals roamed the earth. Getting the costumes spot on was super important since it was a silent musical and we relied heavily on costume and set design to help tell the story. I played the role of 'Erg', the protagonist of the story. He was extremely misunderstood, as he was the only neanderthal who refused to eat meat as a way of minimizing the amount of deaths he was responsible for. I loosely based my character on the late, great Mary Shelley who was not only a famous philosopher, romantic poet and the inspiration for many science fiction works throughout history, but was also a vegetarian and strong advocate of animal rights. I tried to channel as much of her strong will as I could through Erg.This wig was a big reason I was able to make Erg believable and transform fully and meaningfully into him. The rubber headband in the wig maintained its elasticity and the synthetic hair was easy to work with in - shout out to my amazing hair and makeup team - Lisa and Greg, you know I am nothing without you guys! All in all, definitely a good wig for the price!

The hair material has that plastic-y feel that is typical for costume wigs in this price range. It's packed flat so the hair and beard -- 2 separate pieces -- do require some rearranging, but once they were fluffed up, both held their shape well. One reviewer mentioned trimming the beard, which may be necessary around the mouth area because the hair on the upper lip part is pretty long (except for a small part that is already trimmed). I could even imagine having to eat what the beard on, unless perhaps, you are going for that messy food-dribbled look.The beard has two elastic bands that join together before they connect to the beard. The band goes over the ears, and in the back of your head, you can have one strap lower than the other, and this does help keep the beard in place. I have a big head, and found the straps a little tight around my ears until I moved the straps higher on my head in the back. If you arrange the mouth area just right, you can make your lips visible, which adds to the realism.The same wig that I used also worked well for my wife and kids, so I'd have to say this would make a great addition to anyone's artificial wig/beard collection.

The photo is pretty much what you get. Despite being packed for shipping, it popped to shape pretty easily. The beard has a non-adjustable elastic piece that goes around the whole head - a lot more comfortable than ones that go around the ears. The whiskers by the mouth tend to get in the way and you may need to trim them. The "hair" looks very fake and synthetic. There is a strong reddish tint to the hair. And as another person said, it doesn't do well for Hagrid. The beard may be adjustable to match his somewhat, but the wig part isn't long enough

I am very happy with this beard and wigcombo for my halloween costume thus year. It looks great and lifelike for people that have bad hair. I am going to be a caveman. I was able to comb it and style it and the people that saw it said it looked really good during my test fitting. It fitverywell too. I am also very happy with the price.

The feel of this is very rough and uncomfortable. Can only wear for a couple of minutes. The beard didn't fit and the strap us just not righ. The wig fit okay. Definitely not going to get used.

I got this for my fiance and he wore it to our "Wig Out Engagement Party." He had a lot of fun with it. It looks pretty much exactly like the picture. The beard hairs were kind of bent funny when we received it, but with some careful brushing we got them back to normal. I know he did have a tough time drinking through that beard mouth hole, so most of the time he wore it down under his chin. But overall, it served its purpose and held up well. Plus, there are so many costume options with this one... you can do caveman, Ted Kaczynski, Alan from The Hangover, your crazy uncle... the list goes on and on. Lots of fun!

It's more caveman than I was going for but that's because I was trying for the geico caveman. Still looks great and I'll likely make it work or save it for another day. Product itself is good though. Don't be afraid to buy it.

This is pretty close to looking similar to how it looks in the pictures, however the wig (top hair piece) is not as long on the sides or the back as pictured. I would recommend the seller upload a picture of what it looks like from the back so the length is not misleading. We're having to purchase a different wig to make up for the lack of length.

This is a cheap and cheerful wig and beard combo. You wouldn't want to wear it for more than a couple of hours, but then why would you? Don't be constrained by the whole 'caveman' thing. It's also useful for an instant impersonation of Hagrid, or indeed anyone else with big hair and a shaggy beard.

I suppose I did get what I asked for, there is nothing particularly wrong with the product. But its quite uncomfortable and hard to be in for any extended period if you're eating and drinking. I wore this on a fancy dress night out, and got so annoying I took it off.

The wig and beard was used by my Grandson when he played Ben Gunn in Treasure Island this week and it looked brilliant with his hesian robe and shoes we made him.

The colour was not at all like the picture- an actually very mousey brown grey. Also it feels really gross to touch. Overall it is very small and the hair is not any longer than my own, it also does not cover the back of the head enough. The quality is on par with dollar store wigs.
