This is the best smelling candle ever! I love its fresh clean scent. It is a very good quality and natural ingredients. It lasts a long time and burns very nicely. I have bought several and I have given them as gifts as well. You will love it!

I have bought these nice Paddywax Library candles as gifts for my friends and for myself. The candles I have bought for my female friends were the Jane Austen candles. The Jane Austen candle scent is pleasant and light with its combination of gardenia, tuberose, and jasmine. I can just imagine strolling through Jane Austen's English garden right now! I like how Paddywax added the Jane Austen quote, "There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort" on both the candle and library card file candle box. This Jane Austen candle would make the perfect gift for Jane Austen fans, those who love gardens, and those who simply love to read books. I also have the Edgar Allan Poe candle with its fragrant combination of cardamom, absynth, and sandalwood. It has a stronger scent than the Jane Austen candle, but it's unique in scent as well. The quote on the library box and candle for Mr. Poe is: "All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream". These are soy wax candles that burn a maximum of 60 hours. If you are stumped on trying to find a small gift for somebody you know, want to give a housewarming gift for an individual, or want to have an extra gift handy for additional company visiting you during the holidays, I would recommend these Paddywax Library candles. The candles are unique and add a little extra inspiration to any room!

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: After not burning this candle since initially receiving it, I decided to try it again. I LOVE it now! I don't know if it's because I let it sit out for a couple of weeks or what, but I don't find the scent the least bit overwhelming anymore. It's fragrant, but not overly so. Again, I love the concept of this candle and think it would make a great gift for an avid reader, as it comes in a giftable box. Once this candle is done, I will most likely try another scent. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love the concept of this candle, but found the scent much too strong for my liking.

I bought this for a friend almost exclusively because of the Jane Austen quote. She is not only a superfan of the author but loves candles and home decor, most notably those special edition releases of old classics with retro chic covers (purchased separately at Anthropologie, although I believe they are also available online). I thought this would be the perfect complement, barring potentially terrible scent. I took a chance and ordered. Paddywax did not let me down. Of all the notes, I think tuberose is the most apparent - I didn't smell much gardenia but the floral is overwhelming, so it could have contributed there. This is on the sweeter side of floral; I personally prefer greener or more herbal notes, but my friend was overjoyed. Her exact words were, "it smells AMAZING - like Hawaii!" I can't comment on throw or burn time but I think you can feel confident giving this as a gift. The box is also beautiful: sturdy with textured cardboard and the quote stickered on the side. The candle itself is plain, but the amber glass looks vintage, almost medicinal, and could work well with a variety of interiors. I'm not sure I would purchase this for myself given the price, but it turned out to be the perfect present, so four stars.

This brand does burn faster than a Voluspa, which is why they still hold my top spot for candles. However, these scents are otherwordly! LOVE.

Great masculine smell and a wonderful gift.

You can’t go wrong with a Paddywax candle — their fragrances, burn and unique vessels. This is one of my favorite fragrances but I purchased it for a friend who is a Poe fan. Only thing is it’s pricey. HomeGoods often has select number of various Paddywax candles at a fraction of the cost.

Beautiful product. The smell is a light floral, with a distinct gardenia note. The seller is really great. Highly responsive and would definitely shop from them again ;)

Just Amazing !

It came melted even the candle wick is vanished + the quote is different than the picture I didn’t like it cuz I ordered it for the quote

La candela è buona e molto bella, ma la confezione arrivata è completamente rovinata. Inoltre è stata presa per un regalo, quindi così è assai poco presentabile. Considerato il costo non banale di questi prodotti mi sarei aspettata una cura maggiore.
