In Spring and summer you may begin to see unsightly brown patches in your lawn. This could well meant that it's infested with chafer bugs. >br> These feast on the roots of the grass, damaging it and ultimately killing it. In a wet summer, the grass retains enough energy to carry on growing but in a dry summer the grubs get the upper hand. >br> If you would rather control the grub population and save your lawn naturally, then our natural chafer bug killer pack will release millions of nematodes which attack and destroy the grubs. Just water onto the lawn in August to September when the grubs are active and about to hatch into adult. You can apply at other times of the year if you see active grubs, but only if the soil is above ten degrees. As these are living creatures they cannot be stored so please do not order in advance.

A waste of money
Very disappointing. The treatment was applied, strictly following directions, immediately upon receipt. It has made no difference whatsoever and my lawn has been dug up by crows several times every day even since the treatment. For me, this was a total waste of money and the treatment is expensive.

Utterly useless
Very expensive and a complete waste of money. Maybe it kills chafer bugs in a lab dish but in a practical environment it's completely useless. This is the second time I have used this treatment and it has never worked despite carefully following the instructions.

Chafer grub killer
Chafer grubs lurk in the soil under your lawn and eat the roots. So, how do you know if you have Chafer grubs wreaking havoc in your lawn? The easiest way to tell is to dig out a bit of the lawn to see if the grubs are present - they are large (a couple of cm long), creamy white, with legs. I came across the ones in my garden whilst digging out some of my lawn to create a new flower bed. They are not very nice, although the birds consider otherwise and will peck them out of the ground (so another sign of presence is birds pecking the soil, damaging the grass). Another indicator is grass that does not look very healthy, yellow and slow to grow; mine was like that but I thought that was due to lack of rain.Once you have identified Chafer grubs are present, the Nemasys solution (containing Nematodes) seems to work really well. It has to be applied in August to early October as that is when the grubs are close to the surface of the soil; they bury themselves deeper in the soil later in the year and emerge as adult beetles the following May, when they lay their eggs and the cycle begins again. The Nematodes kill the Chafer grubs when they first hatch, so it has to be applied during August to October or it wouldn't be effective.Nemasys has to be kept in the fridge and has a short shelf life (whilst it is boxed and sealed, I did not want to keep it in my fridge for long anyway). The product is mixed with water and then applied to the lawn, ideally in the early evening. You have to water the lawn well and then leave the Nematodes to do their job.I applied the product to my lawn in September 2009. It seems to have done the trick as my grass has looked much healthier this year, despite long periods with a lack of rain.
