Even More Ingenious than the original
Already a big fan of the Original Ingenious Game so getting the extreme version was always on the cards. Basically the difference between this and the original version is an extra 2 layers for the board - so it's an Octagon rather than Hexagon - as there are now 8 different colours/shapes to move/collect rather than the original 6.The game pieces are plastic in the original game and you pop them into the game bag for storage - in the extreme version the game pieces are thick card - you pop them all out of the board when you first open the game and then store in the bag as per original game. The cardboard is high quality and thick and finished with a coating to help protect them - but I'm not sure now robust they will be over time! Let us see after we've played it many times how well they are looking.Game play is the usual quality from this game with more strategy than luck - great game for the whole family and we love it! What's next Reiner!!

Design choices let it down.
Having been a big fan of the original Ingenious for years I bought this to see us through lockdown. Whilst the game itself is as addictive and enjoyable as the original the design choices of the component parts lets it down badly. Most of the changes made seem to be on environmental grounds, which is great but haven’t been thought through properly. The plastic pegs for scoring have been replaced by small, coloured wooden blocks. You only have to nudge your scorecard and the wooden blocks fly all over the place. The black plastic tiles have been replaced by cardboard tiles, but the symbols are printed onto grey card. With a more complicated grey board to play on, this lack of contrast makes it aesthetically less pleasing and rather confusing. It feels more like a prototype than a finished product.Having said that it’s a brilliant game and really gets you thinking. If you love the original Ingenious, you won’t be disappointed playing Extreme.

Very disappointed in the quality of this board game.
I bought this as a present having played, and really enjoyed, a similar game called Mensa Connections. The game itself is brilliant but the design and construction of this game is terrible, cheap and poorly thought through. Rather than have plastic counters the counters are cardboard and pretty much the same colour as the board, making it hard to differentiate. The score card uses wooden blocks rather than pegs, if you have large hands, as I do, these are fiddly to use and easily knocked off.If you want to enjoy this game buy Mensa Connections instead!
