As natural hair girlies, we are constantly presented with new tools (and products) that claim to have figured out the "science" behind our hair. I consider myself to be a natural hair enthusiast - I make and create my own products and I know A LOT about a lot as it relates to our hair. As a waist-length natural with thick 3c-4a hair, I am always trying to establish a healthy balance between exceptionally caring for my hair but doing so with ease, efficiency, and joy. So as you might expect, I have tried many a tools - absolutely NONE compare to this brush. This brush works amazingly and has COMPLETELY shifted how I experience wash-day and therefore how I experience my hair. The way this thing gently glides through my hair, removes tangles, defines curls, and does so without breaking or tugging my hair. Not to mention, its EXTREMELY lightweight, doesn't hurt my hand, and is very easy to use. I am not joking when I say this brush has cut my wash day in MORE THAN HALF. I didn't want to get to a point of resenting my hair for requiring so much of my time and effort - I can now enjoy my beautiful hair more knowing that caring for it is an easeful process that doesn't have to feel like an extreme sport. I don't know how or why this works but it does boo. I want to buy one for every natural in my life and MORE for me just incase they try to play me and stop selling it, LOL. If you don’t know what the curly girl method is, or don’t have very curly hair that requires at least an hour of detangling, please for the love of God do not put a bad review for this brush!! I rarely write reviews but wanted to explain this brush so others understand if this brush is for you, or not. If you have straight easy hair, this brush will not be special to you. For curly girls, this brush will be your holy grail! PROS: -Large head that cuts my detangling down from 1 hour to 10 minutes. -Lightweight plastic, where some have said cheap & like dollar store plastic. I LOVE this about it, as it keeps it as a perfect shower brush, makes it easy to clean, but yet it is light enough that it’s easy to use & my arms don’t get tired. -Interior rubber makes it easy to clean, wicks water, doesn’t mold in shower, and works in conjunction with the soft bristles to allow flexibility so your delicate, tangled hair doesn’t snap off. -Unlike a tangle teaser, the combination of the flex middle and soft bristles allows for the tangles to give vs snap, which means healthier hair. -Flex interior and soft bristles, allow for curl clumping like I’ve never gotten with the Denman brush. -Flex interior and soft bristles help gently smooth the hair without breaking, or pulling which allows for way less hair shed. -Has a hole in the handle so you can keep on a shower hook. -I detangle with wet hair, slathered with conditioner & this brush allows a quick rinse & no build up with it’s middle rubber venting, so it’s a quick dry. CONS: None, unless they stop making it and in that case, I will have to hunt down the company founder in order to sit on their doorstep and cry until they agree to start making it again! *I have one in my shower for conditioner detangling, one outside my shower for product distribution/styling, and will be ordering another for my travel bag! PLEASE don’t ever stop making this brush!!

This is 100% the very best hair detangle brush. I was very shocked at the small amount of hair strands, that are in the brush. I decided to use this brush on my wash day. I used this brush on my hair after putting the conditioner in my hair. The ease of brushing my hair from the ends upwards to the roots, was very very comfortable. This brush functions better than my wide tooth comb, when putting conditioner into my hair. Before buying this brush I detangled my hair while dry, using a bamboo wood brush. After wetting my hair, and combing conditioner through my hair, I would stull have hair strands falling into the bath tub. I am officially done with using the bamboo brush, and no longer need to use a wide tooth comb. On purpose, I did not detangle my hair before washing my hair. I ONLY detangled my hair while wet, washing and putting conditioner in my hair. I really needed to see results of using this Curly Keeper Brush. From now on, I am using this Curly Keeper Hair Brush. This brush is definitely light-weight, with a full handle that is easy to grip, while using and brushing conditioner through the hair, during washing. This brush easily goes all the way through my THICK hair. I do NOT need to brush my hair multiple times, in order to thoroughly detangle my hair. This brush easily and thoroughly detangles all the curls in my thick hair. This brush makes my weekly hair wash/hair care routine more enjoyable, more pleasant, and more convenient. I have mixed feelings about this brush. It's incredibly lightweight and honestly if feels like a cheap quality brush you would purchase at the dollar store. I've been using it in the shower when I condition and then right when I come out and my hair is wet. This brush is specifically for curly hair so that's the routine we follow. Anyways, when brushing, what I first noticed is how the brush bends to your hair so instead of pushing deep into the scalp to brush the hair it's a light brush (hopefully that makes sense). At first I was worried it would not brush out the tangles, but somehow it gently brushed all the knots out with barely any hair falling out. I honestly did not think it would work, but yet it did. Then as my hair dried, my curls, without any products applied, are super bouncy, soft, and curly. It's honestly the magic of this brush. So that's the reason for my mixed feelings. The brush feels like a cheap quality brush, but somehow it does magically work very well for curly hair without ripping hair out!

I buy a lot of brushes. Like, a lot. 3C/4A hair, stand up! I've tried every Denman that's been made. The wetbrushes, the tiny slippery palm brushes I forget the name of. The Cantu brush, the Conairs. I've had a thoroughly mediocre experience with brushes because they don't cover enough surface area and/or the head always comes off and gets stuck in my hair (looking at you Denmans/Cantu). Another qualm I've had is that lots of brushes have those cushioning beads at the end of the bristles that SNAG curly hair. NO good. This brush combines everything I need and quickly became my favorite, I have it in both the blue and the purple. The bristles are sturdy, but pliable. They have no beads on the end so no snagging. Easy to detangle and dries nicely because it's got holes for aeration. My hair is thick, wild, and used to be a chore to detangle. But a few swipes of this brush, and I cover my whole head. I love how easy it's made detangling. I now have time to wash my hair before work. YOU DIDN'T HEAR ME. I said I NOW HAVE TIME TO WASH/DETANGLE MY HAIR IN THE MORNING BEFORE WORK. Unprecedented for those of us who are accustomed to wash days out here in these mean streets. Now, your girl can walk up in the mix with some FRESH DETANGLED WAVES and live my BEST life. To all my sisters making it with Denmans, keep fighting the good fight. But when you're ready to level up and shave some significant time off of your routine, come through :)

Great detangler. Works as described on my 3c hair. Sturdier handle than the unbrush.

Doesn’t work great at untangling. It’s a little too rough for my four-year-old.

First of all, I have absurdly thick curly hair. And I do mean absurdly thick. I have actually made hairdressers cry before when they realized just how much hair I had and how difficult it was to brush and take care of; they always ended up exhausted by the end of the salon visit. It's been this way since I was a kid. Those wide salon-style brushes with thick bristles? Yeah, I've actually broken one before by trying to brush with it. Not throwing it, not dropping it, just normal brushing. Wet Brush? Ehh. It definitely came the closest to being a "perfect" brush, but it always seemed to collect these weird white fuzzy fibers at the base of the bristles, and it was a nightmare to clean. It was the best at helping me brush with the least amount of pain, but I always had to replace it over and over, because it's so annoying to clean. So, needless to say, I was pretty skeptical of this brush. It's just bendable plastic bristles with holes the base; how great can it possibly be? But, I saw it recommended repeatedly by folks with curly hair, so I gave it a try. At first, still pretty skeptical. It's not perfect by any means, I still have to brush through my hair repeatedly to get all the tangles out. BUT... where this brush really shines, is its ease of use and longevity. I never have to clean this brush. Like, ever. Just pull the loose hairs off, maybe rinse a little, and boom you're done. It's excellent for when I want to blow dry my hair, because the hot air goes through the holes when I'm brushing, leaving my hair very straight and silky. I've never once had a bristle break or get trapped in one of my ringlet tangles, even though I've been using this same brush for over a year now. Just ordered a second one for my daughter; she moans and groans about brushing her hair with the Wet Brush. I'll come back to update this if Curlkeeper works better for her too. Edit: She loves it. We threw the Wet Brush away.
