My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic - Glimmer Wings - Rarity by Hasbro

Great product. I reviewed dozens of products for weeks before I finally decided. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I love it !

As most bronies/pegasisters know, Hasbro is not very good at accurately representing the show characters in toy form. This Rarity appears to be from episode 16 "Sonic Rainboom", but the wings are a different design as well as positioned differently. The description on the back made me laugh when I read it, "Rarity(tm) imagines having beautiful wings just like her butterfly friend, and fluttering across the sunny sky!" It is nothing like how she got her wings in the show. Anyway, I have heard that this toy was produced without the designers knowing about the episode, so what we have here is Hasbro getting lucky at making a pony that is show-accurate. Now that I'm done with my rant, I'll actually tell you about Rarity. This is a walking pose Rarity (front left hoof raised) with a special wing mechanism integrated into her back (which also happens to make the tail positioned higher). Her wings are connected to each other (move one wing, other moves too) but not connected to any button, lever, switch, etc. so they must be moved manually. Like the basic Rarity, her mane is two-colored for some reason (it's a solid color on the show) and of course the cutie mark is only on one side (her left flank). She only comes with a pet that looks like a strange butterfly/caterpillar hybrid and there is not even a comb included. For the list price of 7.99 its pretty expensive, considering a basic pony runs at 4.99 and a shine bright pony with a light up mechanism also costs 7.99. Still, this is definitely a good pony for a collector as it is the most show-accurate pony in the "Glimmer Wings" line.

This version of Rarity is beautiful. Her body and head are the same as the regular play figure Rarity. Her wings, although they aren't sheer, are sparkly. They do move, but there is not a button or lever to manipulate them. They just kind of flap when you jerk Rarity up and down. They are anchored well though, as my 3 year old attempted (out of a temper tantrum~ love this age) to snap one wing off, but it merely bent a tiny bit. And she was using force. All that happened was the plastic has a white stress mark on where it started to bend. Not noticeable though. I think this is a great addition to any MLP:FIM collection~ for play or show. My concern is that I bought this for around $7 at Walmart before Christmas. Amazon's prices are insane.
