Tangled (Blu-ray + DVD) [2010]

I liked it. It was nice! When Disney was good before they ruined Disney. Now Disney is bad. Remember the can’t, good old days.

Having seen several 3D Blu Ray films over the last month since purchasing a compatible television (some good but mostly bad 3D transfers),I thought I would look into a couple of reputable websites to see what ones were actually worth buying for the 3D as well as the movie itself.After seeing this particular movie pop up in many good review and forum recommendations I thought I would give it a go.Now as much as I love Disney movies,they're not usually the type that I buy unless there's something else drawing me towards it ( in this particular case 3D),but I can safely say I'm extremely glad I did!The main 3D transfer itself is second only (just) to the Avatar disc,which for anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to see from either receiving one from a Panasonic purchase or buying via a certain internet auction site is absolutely outstanding.Not once did I see any gimmicky "in your face" 3D moments,and virtually all of the film has an amazing amount of depth and clarity to it,whether it be a butterfly flying into the screen from behind you to a sky full of chinese lanterns.The whole film looks totally spot-on.The audio is encoded in a DTS-HD 7.1 format and is equally as impressive as the video quality,from little things like the woodland wildlife,right up to the bass heavy action scenes of the galloping horses etc.If other companies can start paying this kind of attention to their 3D releases,then the technology may start to earn the reputation it rightly deserves (in my opinion).If I could I would probably give it more than the top marks,as the sheer amount of effort (both audio and visually) that Disney have given is outstanding.It's very rarely I write reviews as I'm quite difficult to please 100%,but this (along with Avatar) is total 3D reference material and I can't recommend it enough !

We all enjoyed it

It's no Frozen but the wife is still singing the songs. I think a good measure of a good children's movie is whether they act it out or ask to see it again. So far they have not (children aged 5 and 6). Some good use of special effects and the best character is a horse who is actually very well put together.

I really enjoyed Tangled at IMAX - and thought it was a beautiful story and animated to match. It was a pleasure to see so many good reviews on here, so I bought it.I've just bought a 3D TV (42" LG42650T) and a Panasonic BDT110EB. Tangled was the first proper movie we watched. I hoped that the 3D would be a watchable gimmick at least, but to my surprise it was amazing! In many ways watching the movie on the TV was even better than the cinema .. the picture was very crisp and the detail almost flawless. Just a very occasional "judder" between the the Blu Ray and TV. Rather than grating, the 3D added to the movie with subtlety and charm - and the effect was pleasingly obvious, and not strained or contrived.Quite simply, I'm looking forward to watching this movie again and again. Seeing 3D on a TV reminder me of how exciting it must be to see any TV for the first time, and hard to believe such good 3D is available in the home now. Enjoy!

I had been to see this at the cinema with my children, having got free Sky preview tickets. I have to say I found it wonderful and it almost brought a tear to my eye.I therefore pre ordered it on Blu ray and received it 5 days before general release (well done Amazon).Only watched the blu ray but it does not disappoint. This really is one wonderful looking film, all the better on blu. The menus etc are some of the best yet- my kids love it.This is one of the most expensive films ever made (believe it or not it was approaching Avatar in cost) and the combination of the newer digital animation and wonderful drawing is a delight.The story is great, as are the songs. It is our favourite family animation film and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

REALLY LIKED THIS FROM START TO FINISH.DEAR WALT DISNEY WOULD BE PROUD OF THIS ONE & IT IS THE 50th FILM/ANIMATION,BE IT CGI I CAN REMEMBER THE OLD STYLE ANIMATION (BEING A 1961 CHILD) BUT I COMPLETELY EMBRACE THIS NEW STYLE THE COLOURS AMAZING.I DONT THINK BLU-RAY WILL MAKE MUCH DIFFERENCE TO THE QUALITY,I SOMEHOW PURCHASED THE STANDARD DVD INSTEAD OF THE BLU RAY EDITION WHICH OF COURSE IS A TRIPLE PLAY PACK,NEVERMIND.THE WHOLE THING MAKES UP FOR MY MISTAKE.YOU WILL LOVE THE HORSE,BRILLIANT COULD DO WITH MORE OF HIM,THE HUMOUR IS SPOT ON & WITH A TOUCH OF MENACE ALSO,EVEN I NEARLY HID BEHIND THE SETTEE ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS.BUY THIS OR MISS OUT,GREAT FILM BEAUTIFULLY DONE.OVER THE MOON IT WILL BE WATCHED OVER & OVER.GREAT VALUE TO KEEP.Tangled [DVD]

La migliore realizzazione della Disney dopo Bella e La Bestia .... si è fatta attendere un bel po' di anni ma ne è valsa la pena. Una fiaba dei fratelli Grimm rielaborata con una inventiva degna di Walt Disney. Tutto è perfetto, dai personaggi principali, a quelli di contorno, agli immancabili animali di supporto (geniale il cavallo poliziotto segugio), alle scenografie e alle musiche. Dinosauri, pupazzi, automobili, ecc. sono divertenti, ma il vero marchio Disney è la fiaba d'autore rielaborata come avrebbe fatto Disney stesso, con buona pace degli altri soggetti. Dvd di eccellente qualità video e audio con un doppiaggio italiano di assoluta qualità. Comunque, dopo la versione italiana guardate anche quella originale perché le voci sono straordinarie.

For Disney's 50th animated movie, they have returned to their roots, sort of. They had added a new princess to the long line of fairy tale heroines in their stable, dating back to Snow White in their first movie. However, instead of traditional hand drawn animation, they've chosen to make Rapunzel their first computer animated princess. While this doesn't bode well for those who want to see both forms flourishing side by side, Tangled itself is wonderful.When the queen was pregnant with Rapunzel, she became sick to the point of death. The only way to cure her was to find a magical plant. The plant was the secret of Mother Gothel (voice of Donna Murphy), who used it to keep herself eternally young.Mother Gothel soon discovered that Rapunzel's hair had that magical property, but if her hair was cut, it lost it. So she kidnapped Rapunzel and hid her in a giant tower. Over the years, her hair grew long and continued to restore Gothel's youth.Fast forward eighteen years, and it's almost Rapunzel's birthday. More than anything, Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) wants to see the floating lights that always appear on her birthday in person, but Mother Gothel is so controlling she won't let it happen. That's when fate enters the story in the form of Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi). He's the most wanted man in the kingdom, and he's trying to hide out in Rapunzel's tower. Only she blackmails him into taking her to see the lights. Where will this relationship lead?I must admit, I don't know much of the story of Rapunzel beyond the basics (young woman with long hair in a tower). A few times the thought crossed my mind wondering if something was in the original story or not. But as is usually the case with Disney, they take the basics and make it their own. While I'm sure most of the elements of the story are new, they feel like they've always been part of the story.The prologue, which sets everything up, is a bit on the slow side. But once the story really gets going, it's a complete blast. The plot was fairly obvious from the beginning, especially since it is a fairy tale. However, the story kept moving forward quickly, which kept me engaged. Plus, the Disney spins to the story made things much more interesting.And the humor was great. Pascal, Rapunzel's pet chameleon, and Maximus, the blood hound horse trying to track down Flynn, absolutely steal the show. Any scene they are an active part of is a complete hoot. The humans get some great laughs as well. I saw this with one of my roommates, and we were both laughing multiple times.The only complaint I've heard of the movie was the music. Yes, this is a musical in the grand tradition of Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin. The complaint I had heard was that the songs felt forced. I will admit that they didn't advance the story as much as they do in the movies I previously mentioned. However, I did feel like they were more a part of things than the songs in last year's Princess and the Frog. A couple of them are hauntingly beautiful (as you'd expect with Mandy Moore and Donna Murphy singing them), and there's one that is an absolute hoot. Zachary Levi does the singing for his character, and he holds his own with this cast.There's been some controversy with this film because they changed the name from Rapunzel to Tangled in an effort to attract boys. Trust me, this is a movie that boys will enjoy. It's got great action and the previously mentioned humor. In fact, I think the entire family will enjoy this one together. Yes, it does have romance to it, but this feel much like Aladdin to me, a movie that will appeal to everyone.The computer animation in this film is beautiful. They strove hard to create the look and feel of hand drawn animation with the computer, and the result is art like we've rarely scene in computer animation. Yes, it is still stylized, but it's a huge step forward.What I think surprised me the most about the film was how much I came to care about the characters. Flynn and Rapunzel are so nice, even though Flynn starts off as a thief. I really enjoyed spending time with them. On the flip side, I found Mother Gothel to be one of the most menacing villains in a long time solely because of her mind games on poor Rapunzel. I don't think she's scary enough to frighten young kids, but she is pure evil.If you are looking for a fun movie for the entire family, this is the film to see.

Mit "Rapunzel - Neu verföhnt" kommt bereits der 50. abendfüllende Animationsfilm der "DISNEY ANIMATION STUDIOS"(in Deutschland bekannt unter dem Titel Meisterwerke) auf die Leinwand, bzw. jetzt auch ins Heimkino. Die Erwartungen sind dementsprechend hoch, denn so ein Jubiläum will auch gefeiert werden. Ob diese Erwartungen werfüllt wurden, soll diese Rezension zeigen.Der Film:Ja! Sie haben es wirklich geschafft. Obwohl "Rapunzel - Neu verföhnt" auf Grund der saudämlichen deutschen Titelwahl etwas anderes vermuten lässt, ist Rapunzel alles was die klassischen Meisterwerke ausgemacht hat.Mit dem leicht modifizieren Märchen über das in einem Turm gefangene junge Mädchen (bei Disney natürlich eine Prinzessin ;) ), besinnt man sich auf alte Tugenden zurück. Disney schafft es aber trotzdem nicht altbacken zu wirken, sondern mit fantastischen, modernsten Animationen und behutsam gestreuten Gags, das klasssische Meisterwerk mit der Moderne zu verbinden.Herausgekommen ist ein Film der sowohl alte DISNEY Liebhaber wie mich, aber auch die jüngsten Filmfans der Generation "Shrek" von der erstem bis zur letzten Minute begeistern kann. Rampunzel ist atmeberaubend schön animiert, schrill, bunt, actionreichm und lustig. Rapunzel ist aber auch märchenhaft, herzerweichend, traurig ... kurz gesagt, er hat die typische DISNEY Seele, die den Meisterwerken der letzten Jahre, einfach fehlte.Ein Pflichtfilm!5/5 SterneDas Bild:Ein so wahnsinnig guter Film schreit natürlich förmlich nach einer top Veröffentlichung und zum Glück hat DISNEY gerade in dieser Disziplin bisher auf Blu-ray nie entteuscht. Schließlich liefert man (nicht nur in der Diamond Edition) praktisch regelmäßig Referenzscheiben ab. Zum Glück ist dies bei Rapunzel nicht anders.Komplett digital entstandene Animationsfilme sind natürlich immer die beste Vorlage, die für eine Blu-ray herhalten kann.Somit zeigt sich Rapunzel auf der blauen Scheibe natürlich knackscharf, farblich brilliant und ohne ein Spur von Rauschen. Das Bild ist hierbei schier unglaublich detalliert. Sei es das Haar von Rapunzel oder der Blick vom Turm auf die Wiese, wenn Rapunzel den Turm verlässt. Der Deteilreichtum, die Schärfe und der Kontrast liefern ein regelrecht atemraubendes Bild ab. Dazu kommt ein fantastischer Schwarzwert der Szenen wie das Lied "Mutter weiß es besser" zu einem besonderen optischen Leckerbissen machen. Dazu arbeitet die Kompression absolut fehlerfrei!Selbst in schnellen Actionszenen, bleibt das Bild jeder Zeit stabil und zu 100% scharf, detailliert und artefaktfrei.Natürlich kann man sich jetzt mit der Lupe direkt vor den Bildschirm setzen und nach Fehlern suchen .... und nichts finden! ;)Etwas anderes als die Höchstwertung kommt hier nicht in Frage! Das Bild ist schlicht und ergreifend perfekt und das in allen Disziplinen!5/5 SterneDer Ton:Auch hier heißt es im Hause DISNEY nicht kleckern, sondern klotzen. Erfreulich ist schon die Tatsache, dass auch für die deutsche Tonspur DTS-HD 7.1 Sound vorliegt. Da ich mich aber nicht nur auf technische Fakten verlasse, habe ich natürlich selber die Örchen gespitzt, und das, was da aus den Boxen kommt weiß mehr als nur zu gefallen.Natürlich darf man bei einem Familienfilm, kein Klangewitter eines "Michael Bay" Action Blockbusters erwarten.Trotzdem spielt der Subwoofer gerade in den Actionszenen ordentlich auf, und die Dynamic lässt im Umfang die Muskeln spielen. Der Score, sowie die Geräuscheffekt, bauen einen wunderbaren Klangteppich auf, der einem ein tolles "mittendrin" Gefühl verleiht. Dabei sind die Stimmen jeder Zeit gut verständlich und genau richtig abgemischt. Einzelne Effekte sind jeder Zeit gut ortbar. Auch hier kann ich nur die Höchstnote vergeben!5/5 SterneDie Extras:Leider der einziger Wehrmutstropfen diese Blu-ray - jedenfalls gemessen daran was DISNEY sonst an Extas abliefert. Hier gibt es diesmal aber nur Standardkost. Drei neue Szenen sowie zwei alternative Anfänge (nicht ausanimiert)sind wohl das interessanteste auf der Blu-ray.Das obligatorische Making-Off wurde vorab für den DISNEY-CHANNEL produziert und glänzt vorallem dadruch, dass die beiden Origianlsynchronsprecher, die das ganze präsentieren, zwar extrem viel quatschen, aber trotzdem extrem wenig Information transportieren. Statt dessen verliert man sich in mal mehr, mal weniger schlechten Witzen. Wer ernsthaft Informationen zur Produktion haben will wird hier entteuscht.Auch das 4. Extra, welches auf der Hülle groß angekündigt wird, erweist sich eher als Flop, denn als Top. "50 Meisterwerke" ist nämlich nicht, wie man vermuten könnte, eine Doku, sondern ein 1 Minuten Filmchen, bei dem von jedem Meisterwerk exakt eine (!!!) gigantisch lange Sekunde (das ist kein Scherz) eine Szene gezeigt wird.5 Sekunden Vorspann - 5 Sekunden Abspann - 50 Sekunden - 50 Szenen aus 50 Filmen - Fertig ist das Extra. Hätte man sich sparen können.Dazu kommt noch die obligatorische Trailershow, welche unter anderem einen kurzen Blick auf die nächste Diomond Edition werfen lässt (König der Löwen!).Positiv hervorzuheben ist aber das alle Extras in Full-HD vorliegen. Gemessen an bisherigen DISNEY Blu-rays fällt Rapunzel in Sachen Extras ziemlich ab, bewegt sich aber immer noch auf einem höheren Niveau als so manche Scheibe konkurrierender Studios.3/5 SterneBedienkomzept:Wie die meisten aktuellen Blu-rays setzt DISNEY auf BD-Java (Achtung: aktuelle Firmaware für den Player eventuell erforderlich) und weiß dieses auch gut auszunutzen.Extrem positiv fällt hierbei auf, dass man das mit Bambi eingeführte Konzept eines Popup-Menüs bei den anfänglichen Trailer beibehält. Konkret heißt das, dass der Film zwar nach dem einlegen und auswählen der Sprache zunächst mit Trailern starte. Man aber nicht mehr Skippen oder direkt ins Menü springen muss, sondern dass von unten ein Popupmenü ins Bild scrollt, von welchem aus man direkt in den Film springen kann - ohne Umweg über das Menü.Die Menüs selber sind wieder einmal sehr liebevoll gestaltet. Zudem bietet die Blu-ray eine ins java implimentierte Resume Funktion an, womit der Film nach Unterbrechnung direkt an der Selben stelle fortgesetzt werden kann. Wenn das doch alle Studios so machen würden.Die Menüs selber sind animmiert und sehr liebevoll gestaltet.5/5 SterneFazit:DISNEY ist es nicht nur gelungen einen tollen Film abzuliefern, sondern liefert auch fürs Heikino auf Blu-ray ein technisch brilliantes Produkt ab, welches dem Film mehr als gerecht wird.Bild top, Ton Top, Bedienung Top! Filmfreund, was willst du mehr?Ok, die Extras können nicht ganz überzeugen, aber das macht ein ansonsten absolut gelungenes Produkt auch nicht kaputt.Ganz klare Kaufempfehlung!Gesamtnote: 5/5 Sterne!Danke fürs Lesen!
