Excellent!
I have tried quite a few yoga books for beginners and this is certainly the best. While there are other good books out there, they can be rather overwhelming as a beginner teaching yourself, because there are so many postures (asanas) and points to think of in each move. This book is arranged incredibly usefully, allowing you to jump about as needed and with the book flaps conveniently acting as placeholders. The section on postures to suit specific ailments is brilliant. The postures themselves are helpfuly well explained. Additionally, the overview on the history and further aspects of yoga (other than the stretching postures) are very well written - it covers energy, diet, breathing and meditation, giving you a rounded view of why and how everything fits as an integrated tool for anyone to improve themselves. I can absolutely recommend this without hesitation - a really lovey book by a lovely person. If you're a complete beginner like me and a little unfit, Tara Fraser's other book called 'The Easy Yoga Workbook' is also a must as it gives alternate ways to reach the postures more easily.

Just What I needed!
I'm attending a very good yoga class once a week, but if I'm going to progress I need to practise between classes. I need a guide book as well as my DVDs but many of them assume expertise and existing high ability. This book is just perfect, much better than others I've had from the library or skim read in bookshops. It's very clear, with extra guidance for modified or extended poses so that you can work at your own level. There's a simple introduction to the wider belief system; to meditation; to breath ..... I couldn't have wished for better.

A lovely book, easy to follow, large pictures and clear text perfect for new yogis
I purchased this book as a gift for my 60 year old mother-in-law that has been advised to try out yoga to keep her active and mobile. I was looking for a book that was very basic and gave full illustrations on poses for her to follow. I am very pleased I chose this book as it will be easy for her to follow with large clear pictures and text to explain the poses. A great little book, and I recommend this book for anyone starting yoga.

Great book for begginers
Item arrived very quickly and it is a lovely book. I am just starting into yoga so this book is great if you want to read about the basics where it comes from and what are principals. It explains very well the postures and breathing techniques. I would highly recommend if you are the beginners stage and want to learn about yoga. I have to say the book made me quite excited and I am really looking forward to put it in practice.

excellent for total beginners
Excellent yoga book for beginners. I took few yoga classes, but as I live far away from the yoga center I decided to exercise at home with this book. There are clear explanations and pictures with beginners' and final postures. Although I am practicing already for few months, now and then I go back to the instructions, as after few months of yoga you will get a better understanding for breathing and posture details. Few different sequences are included for morning and evening training and I usually mixing them. That's a relaxed yoga practice book.

Great Book
I really like this book it give you some history about the different types of yoga and also there is a section on breathing. I have been attending yoga classes for about a year but am unable to go regularly so I wanted a book I could use at home. This book gives you a good explanation and pictures of how to do the postures also how to breath which I found useful. There are also different levels of difficulty.
