Q: What's the country of origin?

My husband looked on the smoker but could not find a country of origin. Sorry, I can't help you, however, it does work good.

Q: are the bellows leather?

Mine was not!!! It was fake leather and melted when light charcoal got onto it. I have plenty of little holes and I have returned it.

Q: What is the small metal piece for? It's approximately 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" and is curved on two sides. It was loose in the box.

Hi there, the metal piece goes on top of the leather pump thing when not in use to protect it from being damaged.Cheers
