Ariana Royal Rice Long Grain Golden Sella Basmati Rice 10 kg

First off - 10kg is a big bag! I definitely underestimated just how much rice I was buying. Anyway, I’m sure it will prove a thrifty purchase. My ‘go to’ method of cooking Basmati hasn’t changed for years: Soak the rice for about 3 hours, rinse thoroughly, add exactly twice the amount of water to rice, add a knob of butter, pinch of salt and a little olive oil, bring to boil and simmer for 12 minutes in a lidded saucepan. Then, take off the heat and allow to stand for 5 minutes with the lid on. NOT so with this brand. Now 25 minutes simmer and 15 minutes standing. However, the result is lovely fluffy rice and it IS genuine, high grade Basmati.

This is good value and appears to be real sella (par-boiled). However one star removed for the lack of taste. Despite that, it is still a very good value.

Tastes great, and quick delivery

1) The bag is a bit of a pain to get into - the outer bag is fine and has a zip which is great but the inner bag you have to cut and when you do that you unleash loads of bits of plastic which then go in the rice and are hard to sift out.2) The rice itself isn't as good as other basmati ones I have used - seems more like long grain rice. Cooking it for longer with more water seems to help a bit. Visually its a bit browner and fatter than other varieties when uncooked.3) Tastes fine otherwise.

This is not Basmati rice but a long grain rice, does not cook long as stated and quality is not that good.
