Fit Jeep Liberty
This CV (constant velocity) joint fits the rear end of the FRONT driveshaft (prop shaft) . (Front of transfer case)Our 2005 Jeep Liberty had been making a noise while moving. It sounded like a chain being dragged lightly across a bell and followed the vehicle speed. At one point, while in 4hi with snow on the road, it gave a terrible vibration for a few seconds. Shifting to 2wd made it go away. You can get underneath and grab the shaft (beware hot exhaust pipe) and check for play between the shaft and the joint. There is a rubber boot that degrades over time allowing water and grime into the joint causing friction.I had replaced the same joint maybe 2 years before with a Crown Automotive brand CV but it did not last. We use 4x4 MAYBE twice a year. The way the Libery is designed the front shaft spins 100% of the time, even in 2wd (one reason for Liberty's poor mileage). Although there is no stress on the CV in 2wd it still wears. It IS safe to remove the front driveshaft and drive in 2wd so I did that until I could get the part. The old Crown replacement CV was mangled. The grease had dried. In retrospect I should have used higher quality grease instead of what came with the part. The actual replacement of the joint was not difficult but fitting it back in the jeep and torquing the bolts was kind of tedious. Tighten a few bolts that you can reach, move the vehicle forward or backward to access the others. Repeat. Mark the bolts so you know you got them all, it can get confusing.Ideally I would buy a new mopar front shaft but, too expensive. (Original lasted about 130,000 miles).A good CV in this case should be very tight but still smooth when moved by hand(removed from car). No rotational slop. A bad one will flop around.

Perfect fit, good buy
This kit worked out perfectly for my 03 JGC. I had actually bought a reman prop shaft that made a horrible vibration. After that nightmare getting my money back etc...I bought this and a new u-joint to rebuild my original one. Works perfectly now, was actually easier than I thought it would be. Inluded grease. Instructions are all but useless but work well for keeping grease off of your working surface. Hopefully the boot will hold up, will update if I have any issues.

Fitment reversed. Otherwise perfect
Perfect fit for front driveshaft of 04 Grand Cherokee AT TRANSFER CASE. When I bought it, it said it was for at the axle, but it is actually for at the transfer case.
