These sour pickles are sour, just like them. I have yet to find a sour pickle WITHOUT garlic in the grocery stores. The only choices are Kosher Dill with garlic. All of the pickles sold in the stores are ‘Kosher Dill’. In addition to the flavor of this pickle, I like the packaging. Each bag contains one large pickle in juice. I slice one and store it, in its juice, in a container in the fridge. This makes it easy to grab a slice (or more). So if you’re searching for a true sour pickle, pucker up and purchase these. You’ll be glad you did!

I love sour pickles. These go great when sliced thin on tuna or chicken salad!

Been enjoying sour pickles since 1960's and Van Holten's has been my most recent favorite. Don't know why, but have had two from this delivery so far and they both had hints of dill pickle flavor, not just sour. Might be me, but was wondering if anyone else has noticed a subtle flavor difference. But, a good pickle is a good pickle and these are still "top of the barrel" pickles.

I purchased these pickles and immediately notice they weren't as expected. Don't get me wrong, they have a delicious favor not disappointed although not my sour pickle. They have some sour going on but not the punch I'm used to getting in a sour pickle I'm accustomed with. I've brought some sour pickles at Sprouts which tasted like what you'd assumed dirty dish water would taste. I even attempted to make a batch. I'm still searching and if I can't get that real genuine sour pickle I'm sad. I watched some youtube videos sour pickles recipes but I'm really shy about following another recipe because some people don't know anything about sour pickles and wouldn't dare assume they do until they describe in a oath their pickle recipe is genuinely sour. Different degrees of sour if you haven't had to fish house or liquor store sours. We used to buy them as kid. Like the old fashion candy and todays store brought cookies couldn't pass a blind taste test. I'm still looking for the sour pickle, I'll purchase these as my sour pickle stand by because they taste delicious on a homemade pastrami or turkey burger ect.
