I would rate this book infinity if I could !
Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma is a dark, decadent and wholly satisfying gem giving us everything that all our vampire fiction favorites and cult classics lacked. Fans of Vampire Diaries, Twilight, and all the YA/NA angsty vampire romance and supernatural drama will devour this! What I really loved:- Black dark academia. Dark academia is on the rise. It was beginning to get a bit redundant, particularly in aspects of representation, but Girma has filled the void, giving us a diverse cast of well developed characters who feel both relatable and iconic. The way she weaved an original lore into the culture and familial legacies of the main characters and the setting itself were immersive, fun and refreshing. I can’t wait to learn more!- Enemies to lovers done right. The loathing was as palpable as the chemistry. The tension was as fiery as the angst and the passion. I loved the sophistication and complexity of the romance.- Truly morally gray main characters. Without giving any spoilers, let’s just say, these characters aren’t afraid to rise to the occasion when challenged.- A worthy book boyfriend . Susenyos is angsty, cunning, charming and mysterious. he’s the perfect balance of all the vampires you love to swoon over.- Intriguing and original lore/worldbuilding. One of the most compelling and unique aspects of the worldbuilding is the way vampires are written, particularly the art of drinking blood. It’s explored in a way I’ve never seen before and adds a level of complexity to romance and relationships as well as serving the plot and moving the story forward.Note:Content warnings include but are not limited to mention of suicide ideation, murder, vampire violence, death, family loss/death .There really wasn’t anything I didn’t love about this book other than the fact that it had to end. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and whatever Tigest Girma writes. She’s an autobuy author for me, and Immortal Dark is in my top 3 vampire reads. I highly recommend!Thank you to Little, Brown books for readers, Netgalley , and the author for a complimentary copy of this ebook. I am leaving a voluntary review. Bought for the edges stayed for the story!
Immortal Darkby Tigest Girmanarrated by Jordan CobbThank you so much partner @littlebrown @librofm got the gifted ARC and audiobook.Blurb:The Cruel Prince meets Ninth House in this dangerously romantic dark academia fantasy, where a lost heiress must infiltrate an arcane society and live with the handsome vampire she suspects killed her family and kidnapped her sister.🍂 My thoughts:It began long before my time, but something has always hunted our family.Immortal Dark is a whole vibe. I loved the dark academia and rich setting. The author did a phenomenal job creating the atmosphere. I would definitely say this story is a slow burn and a bit on the thicker side. With that said, I felt like the audiobook broke up the story and kept me engaged when I felt like the pacing was off. This story picks up in the second half, so if you’re reading and you’re upset with the pacing… I promise it is all worth it in the end! You’ll be anxiously waiting to see what’ll happen next and you’ll be unable to stop reading/listening. Vampires, enemies to lovers, and pure chaos… what’s not to love?! This book was absolutely perfect as the weather gets cooler and we head into autumn. I will definitely be continuing on in this trilogy. Immortal Dark is out now!Happy reading 📖 🍂✨🩸

I cant wait for the next book!
I really enjoyed this book! This was my introduction to this genre, so I don’t have much to compare it to, but based on how it made me feel, I loved it. For me, it was a bit of a slow build, but it kept me intrigued throughout. I found it easy to read, while still holding a certain complexity in the writing style. As a Black woman, the main character’s journey deeply resonated with me. It was refreshing to see a strong Black woman whose strength wasn’t ridiculed or dismissed, as it so often is in reality—unless, of course, it’s being used to save someone. Instead, in this story, her strength was recognized and appreciated, which I loved. The way the author described features I truly appreciate and find beautiful made me feel seen. I really connected with the main character, though at times her extreme nature wore me a little thin—but I think that was intentional. Yos… yeah, I’m intrigued. I love his character, at least what we know of him so far.I feel like the main character was on a journey of learning to love herself for who she is, even when the realization was that she had a dark and twisted side. You can definitely see her character development, and I appreciated that growth. The author has a way of making moments feel very intimate without diving into smut, which I both disliked and appreciated. Sometimes I enjoy a little smut, as long as it fits, but I’ll admit it left me wanting more from the Yos and Kidane enemies-to-lovers journey. That was my only disappointment—I really hope to see their connection go further in the future. The reason I gave this book five stars was because of the complexity of the world surrounding the main characters. The details of Uxlay and its families were amazing: the forbidden areas where unspeakable things happen, the generational traditions, the nature and power of the vampires, and the ever-present danger. All of it made me deeply invested in the story. The secrets, lies, displays of love, and mystery were on point—the author did her thing! I truly can’t wait to read the next book
