Great for this soap maker
I needed two digital thermometers for my soap making process, one for the oils and one for the sodium hydroxide mixture. I clip one to each pot while heating on the stove and can easily read while stirring each. When the mixes aren’t the same temp, the soapification processs doesn’t work right. So having two of the same thermometer works great for me. I get consistent results every time. I was concerned that the chemical mixture might negatively impact the metal on the thermometer, but no issues yet after several batches.

Buy replacement batteries, and you'll be set for life!
Update: Apparently the on/off button is tricky and even though you think you've clicked it off, it's still on sometimes. Make sure it is actually off before tossing it in the drawer, and the battery will last for several months to a year. I bought replacement batteries, like 20 for $5, and I'll be set for years to come. When the battery does die, just pull back the silicone grip, and gently pry up the top... there will be a long wire down the length of the metal thermometer, careful not to snap them! It didn't look like I could open it at first, so I gave this a poor review at one point, but really they just needed to be clearer about the battery replacement option. For the price, it can't be beat. I would say it's got like a 2 second delay on catching up to heat, definitely not "instant"... but the clip on the side is perfect for making candy, and it's also perfect for checking meat. I use it all the time to bake, grill, etc.

Not the sturdiest
A bit flimsy. The head came loose far too easily from the base. I have to be very careful when adjusting the rest so it doesn’t come loose. But still gets the job done for now.

Works as advertised
It would work great as a meat or candy thermometer, which is what it's advertised for, but I needed for use in a taller pouring pitcher when making candles and it just wasn't long enough for that purpose. The picture makes it seem like the stalk is longer that it actually is (must've been taken by a man) but I should have actually read the dimensions before buying. But it does work great and is easy to use and read, so I'm gonna give five stars because it's a good product and works for what it's advertised for. The clip is sturdy and holds it in place well. In fact it worked better than the clip on the longer thermometer I purchased later, so I actually use this clip when in making candles still.

If you're looking for a way to throw away $14.99 + s/h...
This thing is garbage. It was packaged fine. I take it out of the package to give it a light wash/rinse, and while I'm *gingerly* drying I guess I pulled a little too hard because the plastic and metal pieces came right apart. Hmmmm.... okay let me just see if I can slide these exposed electrodes back into the metal tubing and hope that didn't break forever.I go to actually use this thing yesterday. Check the calibration in a pot of boiling water, also hoping to verify I didn't destroy the thing in step 1. I'm at sea level, boiling water at 212 degrees Farenheit - we're in business. Pull up a rad salted caramel recipe and get to work. Temp reading fine all the way up to about 220 when we just stall out. Hmmmm okay more heat. Problem here though is the heat overheats the plastic chassis where the temp readout is. Full LCD temp panel blackout, great feature!Okay this is great. Candy thermometer of chintzy design claims to be rated to 450 degrees Farenheit but functionally cannot go beyond 230. Saweeeeet can I buy another?

Good overall
I gave this as a gift (for yogurt making) and recipient said it is great accept when it clips on pot the thermometer angles into pot, giving a faulty read. But we fixed this by laying tongs across pot and hanging thermometer off tongs in middle of pot. Now it gives an accurate temperature read of milk without having to hold the thermometer over a hot pot.

Easy to Use
I'm a victim of slightly dry, overcooked chicken. Now? I know when it's safe to eat so my chicken isnt so darn dry! Just a button push and a quick read tells me the internal temperature of my foods. I also used this to make candy glass window cookies at Thanksgiving. So it CAN function for both meat and candy. Just be sure to get it good and clean after each use.

Great product.
This product was awesome, read temp well I could read the screen even with some condensation on the thermometer. I would purchase again the reason I gave it a 3 starts is that it stopped working after the 5rh time I used it. When I opened up the inside to change the battery the inside was covered in some rust. Not sure if this is from normal use or if I got one that was sitting for a while.

I have been using this thermometer for over a year now and it has been working well. It gives correct readings. I have used it for making breads and candies and they have turned out great.I am only giving 4 stars because of the case. The thermometer does not fit perfectly in the case. Other than that, it is amazing. Go for it!

Works wonderfully.
Just received it and cooked some pork chop and salmon while using this to measure the internal temp.It works as a thermometer should and measures the temp in Celsius or in Fahrenheit via easily changeable button. However, I do have a few important notes.1) WaterProof: It is not water proof, it is water resistant. This means that you cannot safely submerge it in water without potentially damaging it.2) This is not safe to leave in while cooking, the plastic will deform and melt in the oven or on a grill, but it is okay to use while steaming.Other than that, this will work perfectly for all your needs as long as you don't plan on cooking your meat above 300C

but it works just fine so can't really complain for the price
This is a bit cheap as the cap of the thermometer keeps popping off, but it works just fine so can't really complain for the price.

Worth it
Bought this for my sister who constantly overcooks chicken out of fear that it's not done. She's used it and loves it. Worth it.
