Red Iron Hollow End Stainless Steel Starter Punch Set(4 Pieces)

The starter punches seem pretty well made, and they will work for most applications on the AR, but I saw it said works for the forward assist and this I kinda disagree with. Sure you can use the 3/32 pin in a larger punch but it doesnt seat well and has too much slop side to side. I might end up making a custom punch for this application. The others work great.

I needed something to push out break pins and these just broke. I ended up getting GEARWRENCH 4 Pc. Long Taper Punch Set - 82307 which work like a charm.

My old go too used to be tape the roll pin to my old punches but sometimes the tape still would allow the roll pin to buckle. These are great and make that stressful part of the build a piece of cake. Once the roll pin is started you have to switch to a brass punch so you do not mark the surface but that is the easy part so no biggie.

These starter punches are very well made and work great! Remember, these are STARTER punches. After you get the pin started switch over to regular punches to finish inserting the pin(s).This starter punches are well machined for the money and will work as well as some very expensive models I have seen. If you are merely a firearms hobbyist, and not a "gunsmith" these punches will work for you for an extremely long time.Buy these. You won't be sorry.

Used these on my AR. They worked well. They hold pins tight. So tight that you have to make sure the pin is seated well or it will pull the pin out.

They work great. Saves time. No fumbling trying to hold small roll pins. Wish I had these years ago. They are a little short but, they are meant just for starting the pins not driving them home.

Replaced original gas block with a low profile one and upgraded my handguard.
