Balancing opposing forces in both our physical being and in our thinking
I have read a lot of yoga books over the span of about 30 years, and this, by far, really captivated my attention. I can only guess, that most of us who are acquainted with the teaching of yoga, have grappled with the concept that 'life is suffering'. I didn't understand this concept until I read this book. Frank Jude Boccio's writing skills are clean and direct, and he begins the book with a very thorough explanation of The Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold path of Buddhism. His explanation, helped me, for the first time, to completely comprehend that we cause our own suffering and the only way to cease the suffering is to recognize the Four Noble Truths and practice The eightfold Path. He then proceeds with applying the concepts of Buddhism to the practice of yoga which I found, for the first time, to be a purposeful reason to pursue and practice yoga: We are practicing equilibrium(balancing opposing forces) both in our physical being and in our mental being and reaping the reward of this practice.

Good premise, average execution
A very interesting premise that is well presented -- until you get to the Yoga sequences. The sequences are very basic and very repetitive -- with the same photographs being used over and over again. In short, there are better books on the practice of Mindfulness and there are better books on Yoga practice. If you want both in one book, then this one is OK. Although, personally, I'd recommend Erich Schiffman's "Yoga: The Spirit and Practice of Moving Into Stillness" over this one.My copy of Schiffmann's book is well thumbed. But I doubt that I will pull "Mindfulness Yoga" off my bookshelf too many more times.

Exactly what a yogi needs to know
I've been doing yoga for about 5 years and began to become more interested in why we do yoga, in its spirtual underpinnings if you will. This book perfectly addresses that topic. There's an excellent description of yoga's origins and relationship to Buddhism. Moreover, it's a great tool to turn yoga asanas and movement into "moving meditation." Even in vinyasa-power yoga, there's a lot we can learn about and practice to enhance mind-body-spirit connection. This book does an outstanding job of informing the new or experienced yogi about how to gain more insight into what we really want to achieve from yoga.

Excellent resource
As a yoga teacher, I found this to be an excellent resource for teaching mindfulness to my classes. My students also enjoyed this. I hope sometime to take a workshop with the author.

yoga back to it's roots
many american yoga teachers use the practice as just a workout---not that theres anything wrong with that. But the word yoga means yoking....and this book helps yoke the mental/perceptual processes with the physical. moving meditation. and a workout.

Good collection for yogis
Very well written and composed. A good book to get back to practice if you haven’t done since some time and to compile it with breath work.

Excellent
I loved this book. It gives a very clear foundation for the philosophy of both yoga and mindfulness and marries them together in a very accessible way. Just what I had been looking for at the time.
