Great fountain pen for an exceptional price.
I got this today and was very pleasantly surprised of the quality, fit and finish given the pen’s price. The engraving on the cap and the details are fantastic. It’s absolutely beautiful! I loaded it up with Sailor black pigment ink and it writes very well. It’s so easy to vary the width of your lines because of the fude nib. Writing looks very nice and formal. Even when writing notes it gives you sense of substance. It starts easy and flows smoothly. The included ink reservoir is easy to fill. I’m sure you could a cartridge but I like filling my pens from bottle ink. Don’t hesitate to buy, especially at this price!

Great Fude Pen for the price!
This pen was recommended by a very talented artist/urban sketcher and watercolour painter. It's affordable, feels great in your hand, cap posts well and it writes really well. I'm using it with de Atramentis Document Ink Brown for my ink/watercolour paintings. Very happy with this purchase!

Didn't come with ink
It's a beautiful pen, but I specifically asked if it came with ink and was told yes, but it doesn't. I haven't tried the converter yet. It writes well.

Exceptional
I've wasted a lot of money on fountain pens chasing the fallacy that my drawing would improve with better tools. No tool will teach you to draw, but it's no fallacy that some tools are more practical, comfortable, and dynamic than others. This Duke fude-nibbed fountain pen fits me like a glove and I think it will suit others as well.Fountain pens can be an addictive hobby because of their many variables: weight, balance, ergonomics, capacity, flow, nib style, convenience, durability, aesthetics. Finding a pen with all of these variables in the Goldilocks zone is extremely difficult - some people spend hundreds of dollars on nibsmiths getting custom nibs and feeds exactly as they want them, or build huge collections of mass-produced pens without being satisfied. For my quick gestural ink studies I wanted a light and balanced pen that was ready to go every time I pulled it out. It needed a special nib capable of creating thin contour lines and large areas of tone, like a pencil. The feed had to lay these lines with perfect consistency no matter how fast I stroked. It needed a massive ink capacity since drawing - especially when laying tone - consumes far more ink than writing. And it needed to be durable since I'm not interested in babying a pen. From the five star review you can guess this pen satisfies all of the above - at an incredible price. The attached gesture study was done in a few minutes on cheap newsprint paper using Waterman "Serenity Blue" ink. You can see there are no skips in any of the strokes even as I blocked in tone on the bird's chest with quick and heavy lines - even on this cheap, thirsty paper.Capacity was solved by using large international standard cartridges. I can comfortably draw for over an hour on a single refill and fresh cartridges are quick to swap in. Waterman and Pelikan offer these larger cartridges but they're not very cost effective so I recommend buying a bottle of Noodler's and refilling them.To the layman $20 may seem like a lot for a pen. But to a studious ink-loving artist who will get years of mileage from this tool it's nothing. In fact when buying ink in large bottles you will easily save money over ballpoints and felt-tipped markers in the long term.Buy yourself a new toy - you deserve it.Update January 2022:I'm still using this regularly, usually with Noodler's Heart of Darkness. I've added a few more sketches.I left it idle for about two months and it was a bit scratchy at first but with a bit of water and plenty of ink it came back. Once the current load runs out I'm going to try it with Platinum Carbon Black.

Robust build. Great value!
This review is for the fude nib. What a satisfying nub to use! Ink lays down smooth and bold! I’m so surprised by its performance! Pen has a Robust build, great weight and decent balance when cap is posted. I have small hands so prefer to write/draw without it. There is a learning curve with this nib style, but am excited to write, doodle and draw with it. I am able to get XXF lines for detail drawing and cross hatching by reverse writing on the nib. So far I’ve not experienced any hard starts, or starvation skips! I might even say it performs as good as some of my more expensive and highly coveted pens. Recommend for the great value and performance!

Doesn't write crisp lines anymore after only 3 uses.
I've tried cleaning out the nib but it just won't make crisp lines anymore and I haven't even used the pen that much. It constantly looks like there's a bit of bleed going on. Also can't get it to stop sucking a bunch of air after having filled it a couple times and now it's letting out too much ink. Or maybe I'm just dumb and don't know how to use these kinds of pens.

If only it wouldn't skip
The pen was perfect in all respects but one. It had a nice shape, a little bit of heft, materials used looked good, came with a converter - if only it didn't skip so badly. In other forums I've read comments about the hit-or-miss quality control for some of the low end pens - this might just be a case of a "Monday pen" since so many other people had good luck with it. Still, I had to return mine, went with another inexpensive Chinese pen and had good luck the second time.

Just an OK pen
This pen tends to skip when drawing anything other than thick lines. It does draw thick lines well. The skipping scratchy lines can be used for construction, but it's a bit bothersome when drawing most of the time. It's also quite heavy.

Mala calidad, defectuosa
The media could not be loaded.

Me gusta
Quería intentar el dibujo con tinta, y esta pluma cumple mis expectativas perfectamente. Es suave, trazo continuo y fluido en cualquier posición del plumín y se logran diferentes grosores del trazo con facilidad

My new favourite fountain pen
This is a stunningly beautiful pen. It has gorgeous silver-toned metal decorations (rather than a painted or printed design), and has a really nice weight and feel. It also has a barrel that is neither too fat or too skinny, and is balanced in the hand, making it easy to hold and control.I've used many types of fountain pens, technical pens, and nibs in the past, including some very unusual vintage nibs in stick holders, but this is my first fude-nib fountain pen, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect in actual use. I discovered that this one works well flat, on its side, and at various in-between angles, with good ink flow and no skips. It fills with a smooth piston converter, allowing you to use whatever colour ink you like. There were no leaks or excess ink at the nib, and no ink all over my hands while filling it or using it. Ink flow is smooth and controlled, with no bubbles, blobs or unexpected streaks. The ink goes where you expect it to go — definitely not always the case with pen and ink.It is such a pretty pen, and works so well for the kind of drawing that I do, that I now want more pens in this brand. The only thing I didn't love was that it doesn't come with any kind of instructions or insert. If you weren't familiar with how a piston converter works, it would be somewhat mysterious as to how to fill the pen. Also, no box, but it does come with a little drawstring velveteen pouch, which is ultimately far more practical if you're carrying this pen around.I was also very pleased with the customer service I received. Following my query regarding delayed delivery (ultimately due to the pandemic), I received a prompt and courteous reply within a few hours. The item arrived two days after my query, so was already on its way by the time I asked about it.This would make a great gift for any artist who likes using pen and ink. It's definitely great value for the price, and my next pen will probably be a nice Duke fountain pen for writing.
