Dark Matter [CD/Blu-ray Audio]

Media is snug but can tolerate slightly more than usual finagling
The CD is in the left sleeve and the BluRay is in the right sleeve. Both feel like, I’m guessing due to the nature of this packaging, they’re somehow glued or just stuck. But I found the sleeve material to be somewhat tolerable to a sort of gentle tug if you take your fingers to get a firm grip by essentially pinching the media between your thumb and index finger. Yes, I know I was going to get a little bit of my fingerprint on it. But I always keep a supply of media wipes. That said, using the same pressure and poking around as I have in the past on these types of CD/BluRay packaging combinations, this material feels like it can tolerate slightly more than usual physical wear and tear.

Great record
I have every PJ studio album plus a lot of their live recordings. Saw them live at Memorial Stadium here in Seattle years ago. This record takes me back to the early ‘90s when they were putting out some of their best work. Songs are vital and well crafted. Atmos mix sounds great. I agree with reviewers about the packaging—discs are hard to remove and I fear damaging/scratching them when I pull them out or put them back in their tight sleeves. As for the on-screen visualization some complain about, some TVs have an option to turn off the screen and just listen to the audio. Check your remote.

Best Album since the 90s
I have been a Pearl Jam fan since the begining. This is now my favorite album to listen to. Great songs! Album favorites are Upper Hand and Setting Sun. Also really like React Respond and Won't tell. Amazing album. Greatest Band of ALL TIME!

4.5 stars, matured band, great album
Thanks to the band and whoever else decided to release "Dark Matter" in cd and bluray with high res audio. Many of us like to hear this music in surround sound directly from the source.Agree with everyone else's assessment, it's great album and indeed show a mature band doing great music, not trying to sound like their old self from 30 years ago as certain super-famous band lead by an 80-year old guy.Great collection of songs, my favorites "Scared of Fear", "Wreckage", "Dark Matter", "Waiting for Stevie". Glad this time I paid attention to their new release.

Best album in a VERY long time.
Even if you were a former PJ fan and have fallen out of favor with them, give this album a spin. So many good songs. Every time I play it, it seems I find a new favorite song.

Excellent Surround/Atmos, but why the tight sleeves
Another excellent PJ album, just what you would expect. How do you get the discs out of the sleeves without tearing them. They just didn't have to be this tight. Fair price for CD/Bluray Atmos. On my system, Eddie's is vocals mixed lower on the Atmos version when compared to the stereo version.

Saw this in a movie theater
The Blu-ray accompanies the audio very nicely.Saw this at a theatrical event on Tuesday before the actual release of Dark Matter. Pearl Jam is back with a great album and visual stimuli to expand your experience.. Crank it up loud and sit back and enjoy!

Relive the movie release at home!
Now you can watch the throwback visualizer in the comfort of your own home. To me, the 5.1 mix only seems to affect a few songs in a noticeable way. It’s my first 5.1 mix but so far I would say it’s pretty close to the CD version. Still a great record on its own.
