love it
We go through 10lbs of potatoes a week and this masher helps us make perfect mashed potatoes every time. Its easiest to clean if washed before the potatoes dry on it but if they do, just soak it and its a lot easier to clean.

Heavy duty, smooth metal - should last a lifetime
This potato masher is a really high-quality piece of kitchen equipment that I hope will last generations. If you want something heavy duty and durable, THIS is the potato masher for you. It even arrives in its own cloth pouch! The potato masher itself is exactly as described in the listing: a single piece of 18/8 stainless steel, smoothly polished and very weighty. I used it for creating a mix for meatballs, and it cut through the mix very easily. The weight of the masher gives it a lot of force to blend, smash, and mix ingredients together. Given that it is a single piece of steel, the masher is quite easy to clean. The edges are nicely smoothed out, and not rough. While on the pricey side, the quality of the masher certainly delivers, and I would choose this one if you want a piece that will hopefully last a lifetime.

The BEST potato masher
That’s a heck of a title, but this “Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Potato Masher” lives up to my hype! Here’s why:For 54 years, I used a wire type masher that we received as a wedding present. Mom and Grand-Mom used all-but-identical mashers, so I felt I was set for life. Along the way, I flirted with a ricer, but it wasn't much fun. The potatoes were great, but not worth the time and oomph. I also tried a food mill, but put that aside after about one potato! This masher popped up as an Amazon suggestion. I had to have it. Even if it couldn’t mash potatoes I could set it on a pedestal as an “objet d'art.” It arrived in a cloth bag and was beautiful. I just looked at it for a couple of days until it was time to mash some potatoes. There are as many ways to correctly mash potatoes as there are Moms and Grant-Moms in America. My little family prefers a mix of peeled russets and unpeeled reds. We prefer a slightly lumpy texture. I use room temperature buttermilk for thinning and a squirt of fancy finishing olive oil for that final creamy touch. Before I started, I weighed my old and new mashers because I knew that the weight of this objet d'art would be a big factor in its usability. It was. The slightly curved mashing plate worked better than I anticipated. The time between the “Just starting,” “Almost finished,” and “Ready to serve” photos totaled five minutes, and that included posing and taking the photos.WOW! This is the BEST potato masher!

Heavy masher, perfect potatoes
This review is for the qAp quality art Practical Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Potato Masher – Durable & Rustproof – Unique One-Piece Design for Quicker Mashing root vegetables, avocados, apples, beans, and nuts – 11-inch Long, Dishwasher Safe. The qAp makes mashed potatoes as good as mashed potatoes I've made with any hand masher. No lumps, perfect. One thing of which to be aware: the qAp masher is heavier than any hand masher I've used before! It weighs 332g. Mashing two potatoes with the qAp is a real upper body workout. I am old and not terribly strong, so your mileage may vary. Nonetheless, it is much less strenuous to mash potatoes with my electric potato masher. The tradeoff comes when it takes fifteen minutes to assemble the electric masher and fifteen more minutes to take it apart again. Don't even think about what it takes to clean it! The qAp goes right in the dishwasher. The qAp exceeds my expectations. I recommend it. Five stars.

This is the masher you have been looking for
I’ve been looking to upgrade my plastic utensils to something more professional. This stainless steel masher certainly fits the bill. Picking up the masher, I can feel its heft. It’s solid and it is not going to flex like those plastic versions. The stainless steel polish and finish is good, but one side is smoother and shinier than the other. The inside of the handle is a bit rougher than the outside. Same for the backside of the masher compared to the front side. The mashing surface area is smaller than my previous plastic version. The surface is also curved and not flat. I found mashing potatoes was quick and easy. The curved mashing surface worked better with round mixing bowls, fitting better with the curvature of the bowl than flat mashers.I wanted to see how the masher performed with mashing something hard. I tried to mash a cut raw carrot. It was not easy, but I managed to mush the carrot. The curved surface allowed me to apply a lot of force right in the middle of the masher to crush the carrot. That would not be possible with a flat plastic masher. The handle was a bit uncomfortable applying so much force, but that’s ok, I won’t be doing that again.Overall, I very happy with this masher and I have no doubt it will last a lifetime of mashing.

Best potato masher I’ve had
This potato masher is the best I’ve ever had! It’s heavy duty with substantial weight, but it’s still comfortable to hold and use without hand/arm fatigue. As I’ve now discovered from using it, the added weight contributes to it more easily mashing through the potatoes as compared to my other mashers that are all very lightweight and thus require much more force to press down into the potatoes (or beans, etc. whatever you’re mashing) – which is also more tiresome. This masher is 11 inches tall, mainly from the handle, and that’s a nice feature as it makes the masher more ergonomic to maneuver with. The mashing base itself is small in contrast to most typical mashers and you’d think it wouldn’t work as well for that reason, but quite the opposite is true…it presses into the potatoes like butter! I was done with my mashed potatoes so much faster using this masher, I was shocked, and I can’t wait to use it the next time I prepare refried beans! The craftsmanship is high quality, with its thick and solid stainless steel construction it’s fine for the dishwasher (and rinses clean easily) and should last for years and years with proper care. It’s absolutely worth the price point – definitely recommended!

Works better than any other masher
Very nice design. Sometimes form does follow function and this is one example. More importantly, it works brilliantly. I had never realised before getting this just how much extra effort you need to use because most mashers flex. This one is rock solid and perfectly shaped for use in a round pan. Cant see how it would be improved without providing a sous chef to wield it for me. Expensive but worth it.
