Federal Locks UK 3 Star Euro Cylinder Thumb Turn Door TS007 Diamond Secure Anti-Snap Dual Finish 5 Keys 35/35

I work in the window/door industry and I'd usually supply Ultion's with my doors. I needed a replacement and if you know Ultion then you'll know how expensive the cylinders and keys are. Don't get me wrong, they are amazing cylinders. I stumbled across the Federal and noticed a 3 star solid secure diamond, with PAS24/SBD rating, which is exactly what I'd expect on a door. 5 keys in the box, and a card with website to order more if required. Cylinder feels solid and the keys are very similiar in design to the Ultion, although not as chunky. They keys themselves come with a protective tube cover, which is a nice touch. Ordering new or replacement keys is very easy using the supplied card code and website link and the keys themselves are much cheaper cost wise than the Ultion. Just a reminder that these are high security keys, so you won't be able to ge them cut in town, you have to order them online, which is a great security feature. Just remember to order the keys to a different address! Functionality wise, the cylinder works very well and is smooth in operation. A tip is to grab yourself some graphite powder and every 6 months just put a bit on your key and turn inside the cylinder, which will keep it as smooth as silk in operation. Don't be tempted to use any lubricants, only use graphite powder. I've already recommended this product to some of my clients who are looking to replace their cylinders.

Very sturdy feel and do like the additional keys provided, took less than 5 minutes to fit, time will tell if it was worth that bit extra, but first impressions are good.

To start with the build quality looks good, feels nice, good keys, 5 of them with is lucky as getting spares will take a bit more effort that going to B&Q and thinking their machines will cut one. That's a good thing, as anyone trying to bump or wake etc will find it's not that kind of lock. So that's a good start. Anti snap too, which is a shockingly easy way to destroy some locks. Fitting would have been the usual doodle 2 min job. Sadly mine is going back. I am fitting a smart lock and I need a thumbscrew that can be taken off. This looks like it has a hardened pin holding it on. Normally that's good but sadly not for me. I am a bit gutted as this is a really good lock.
