Disappointing finish
I enjoyed beginning and middle of book but found ending rushed. Perhaps more chapters to build up to a more satisfying ending. Shame really.

Intriguing and wonderful Book
What a fantastic book bringing to life a story of love but shrouded in mystery as the main character has a wonderful history of her roots back in Russia and their royal family One of the best novels I’ve read for ages

Lovely story
I’ve only just started reading Alan’s books. Some are good , others less so. Rosie was a great character, fun and the sort of old lady many of us would like to be. I thought Nicholas was a bit wet though. Perhaps that was deliberate to show the contrast between him and Rosie. I enjoyed the book and shall look for more of Alan’s work.

A gentle, warm story.
A gentle love story surrounded by interesting characters and mixed with an historical mystery. A good read with the added bonus of Alan's knowledge of roses.

Lovely story set in the Isle of Wight with Russian overtones
I thought this was a lovely book. I really liked the characters and the love story. at the heart of it. The Russian parts were interesting and the setting was nice. There wasn't anything I didn't like.
