Q: Is there an on/off button?

He doesn't have a on/off button. In standby mode, he displays the date and time and only use very little power. If you want to use it, you can use it directly by pressing the button. If you don't use it for a long time, the machine will automatically enter the standby state without you to shut down it.

Q: How do we turn off the volume?

Click the black button above the Blue M+ button. It will show bars on the screen and if you keep clicking it, it will go down and up.

Q: Does the 8001 sound the same as the 7778?

Yes, I have both. The musical tones and speaking voice sound the same. However, the volume of the 7778 is louder than the 8001. It might be because the 7778 uses 2 'AA' batteries while the 8001 uses 2 'AAA' batteries. I also have the 5588 which also sounds the same, but the calculator is much larger, has larger buttons and larger screen.

Q: Is there a way to change the pitch on the AR-8001 ?

Not as far as I can tell, it only follows the D major scale. I have heard that the similar AR-7778 has the rest of the notes, but I can't confirm that.
